Running 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Black Nikes

Quick run in the Mac with Xan and Chris. Just a touch of snow. We turned back a little early.

My legs were a little sore - ran too far yesterday.

Running 1:55:00 [3] 12.5 mi (9:12 / mi)

Ran out to Waterloo park, and then did some convoluted paths around the trails.

Orienteering race 28:21 [4] 5.5 km (5:09 / km)
shoes: Black Nikes

Course 4 at Lake Elizabeth. Some bingo type controls, but I had fun regardless. Super flat running - mostly grass fields.

Running 25:00 [3] 3.8 km (6:35 / km)
shoes: Black Nikes

A much easier paced cooldown run on course 3.

Running 45:00 [3] 4.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Black Nikes

Lunchtime fire trail. Pretty chilly.
Photographic evidence indicates that it's snowing in the hills today, but I did not see this hypothetical white powder myself.

Note

Might I add - It was cold and rainy out there today.
And I loved it!

Orienteering 38:00 [3] 3.7 km (10:16 / km)
shoes: Black Nikes

GCO orienteering meet. The advanced course was Green/Brown in length.

Very fun, technical rocky sections. The drawback is that these areas can be really difficult to run in. I certainly could have run better through some of these areas. My biggest 'mistake' was about 5 minutes on the second control. I almost left without finding it, and I confirmed after the race that it had been misplaced. Still had a lot of fun though.

I think running out there is great practice with reading complicated terrain.

Running 50:00 [3] 4.0 mi (12:30 / mi)
shoes: Black Nikes

Ran some trails after the race to cooldown, and ventured into some more complicated areas to practice navigation. Also went to double check the control placement on #2.

Bon Tempe

Orienteering 45:00 [3] 3.5 km (12:51 / km)

Set out on the course at Bon Tempe - but didn't finish.

For some reason, I was in a very grouchy mood this morning. My focus was very off and navigation stunk. My motivation was also very low. On top of that, my legs were pretty sore. Further compounding things, there was no water on the course and I was getting dehydrated.

Put all that together, and I didn't see much reason to keep running. Better to recover some and run hard tomorrow. Plus, with Bon Tempe being such a crummy map, there wasn't much to learn by walking the course either. So, I just paused awhile to enjoy the view, and then jogged back to finish. Partly jogged anyhow. Normally jogging gets the endorphins pumping and I start to feel better - today it didn't, and I ended up walking most the way.

I suspect that much of this can be traced back to yesterday's massage. It certainly explains the sore legs. This deep tissue stuff is supposed to break up scar tissue too - so running was probably dumping toxins into the blood.

Climbing 30:00 [3] 2.5 mi (12:00 / mi)
shoes: Black Nikes

Very light run at the track, just to strech out the legs.

The Cal Rec Center had a special deal recently, so I got a sports massage in the morning, some deep tissue stuff in the hamstrings. It's supposed to help remove scar tissue.
