Orienteering 51:00 [3] 5.0 km (10:12 / km)
shoes: Green Integrators

Middle distance course at Truckee flats. Nice course. Moved at a fair pace (pushed hard, but never 'super' hard). I didn't want to irritate my hamstring/knee, and had a minor ankle tweak.

Navigated pretty well, all things considered. Made one big dumb mistake, (there was a butterfly wing, where control 7 and 10 were the same checkpoint... which meant that when I was orienting the map, I took a rough compass from 9-10, using the bearing for 6-7. This resulted in an ~3 minute error). A few bobbles in the control circle, and it took me about 20 minutes before I was doing an adequate job of reading vegetation (would have needed some model-course time to really figure out the mapping, I think). But the best navigating occurred when I ignored vegetation and point features, and focused on topographic features.

Running 50:00 [3] 5.8 mi (8:37 / mi)
shoes: Turquoise Cascadia 7

Ran with the BRC in Tilden Park. Around Jewel Lake, up on Selby trail to Lake Anza, and back on Wildcat Trail. Nice run, stuck with the middle-pack, but broke off early (took Wildcat creek trail under the botanical garden).

Pushed the pace a little at the beginning - good cardio on the uphill. Legs felt a little jellowy on the downhill bit, especially near lake anza. Knees and legs felt pretty good, but a little soreness started creeping into the left hip by the time I reached lake Anza, and the right knee had a minor twinge (from the cold) on the way back.

Running 55:00 [3] 5.0 mi (11:00 / mi)
shoes: Turquoise Cascadia 7

Ran out past the bench, to the plum tree, at a very easy pace. This was a little further than I expected to go. I did a few form drills to stretch out, but my hip was getting sore on the way back so I walked a lot of the last mile.

Legs feel better the day after.
