O-in-the-oaks Day 1.
Map at Routegadget

I got beat. Made some big errors early and forgot to punch #2. This is my 3rd error of this nature in the last 2 months (See BC champs and Arnold Ice Caves), I really need to work on my focus and perhaps develope the "Ted de St. Croix" map fold.

The hill climbing was just to much for me. Too steep to run. I might have pushed through (I've run stuff that steep in Beazel), but I was concerned about running out of steam and not finishing. My map contact was also very poor today. I was focusing on attackpoints, but I spent most of my time getting lost and relocating. I think dehydration may have been a deciding factor here. All things considered, I was suprised to finish as well as I did.

Some highpoints of the race where seeing wilde pigs and a couple deer. I was also happy to that I finished with really fast splits, could it have been the water I drank at every stop?

Note
(rest day)

Legs felt pretty sore and tired, considering the last two easy runs. I think it's carry over from marys peak. Time to take a day off...

Another light jog. This time, about 4 miles out past the covered bridge.
Afterwards I did situps, and some light weight training at Dixon. Most importantly finished up by taking sauna.

Hard ride up and down witham hill, so I could get my running shoes in time to join the running club

Running 40:00 [2]
shoes: Orange Sauconys

Easy great harvest run. Went through pioneer park to the waterfront. Running and good bread have been a perfect combo this week.

Marys Peak with larry and andy. Great time! It was cool and foggy on the way up, but clear and warm at the top. Andy pushed the pace really hard during the last mile of ascent. The way down was fast and fun.

I feel really good now that I'm back and refueled with tasty bread!
