Running 40:00 [2]
shoes: Orange Sauconys

Easy run down to dairy barns and then out to walnut park for a little trail running.

My sore left ankle, left torso, and right knee limited the pace. Argghh. No more tripping.

Running 1:10:00 [4]
shoes: Orange Sauconys

Good hard workout running from Dixon to the top of Bald Hill. I ran a tough interval to catch nick and brett after streching, then kept going sraight to the top. The way down was super fast.

Took a nosedive when I reached the sidewalk. Second time in 2 days. Now my knees match. Last time I fell this hard was over 2 years ago. I hope this isn't a problem for the relay on sunday.

Running 1:20:00 [2]
shoes: Orange Sauconys

Nighttime Dimple Hill with Andy and Jessica. It was really nice out, I wish I did this more often.
The pace downhill was slow with poor visibility. I got one good skinned knee out of it.

Orienteering race (Sprint) 17:00 [4] 3.1 km (5:29 / km)
shoes: Orange Sauconys

OSU Campus. No excuse to miss this one, the start line is just 100m from my office where I'm typing this now.

I finished less than 10s back from Andy, making me regret the 6 second mistake overshooting #8, and a poor route choice to the finish which probably cost 3 or 4s. :-)

But, I guess it worked out, because the chase happend to be different than expected.

Orienteering race (Reverse Chase) 20:00 [5] 3.8 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Orange Sauconys

This was a reverse chase, with people starting as pairs every minute, the slowest starting first. This was fun, since we got some rare head to head racing. Based on seeding, I started second to last, which meant Andy would be hot on my tail.

I helped him with a ~20s mistake on control #1 when I stupidly trusted my memory instead of the map. By #4 I'd pushed into the lead but Andy was only 100-200m back. Leaving #6 I lost my place on the map. This cost a few seconds plus a mediocre route choice. Coming into #7 the flying Mr dale had taken the lead and I was playing catchup. And he was booking! There goes my 1 minute head start!!! I unabashedly followed to #8, hoping to I'd have enough speed to pull ahead, or at least keep up. In a stroke of luck though I got ahead at number #9 by cutting through a high fence with an open gate. This however, felt somewhat unethical :-(

From there out it was simply fast running with a goal not to loose ground. I managed to finish first, but by a margin of less than 1min, which puts me at #2 as far as I'm concerned. Next time that guy runs a trail race he should carry a map, and no one else will stand a chance!!!
