orienteering race (red) 1:19:04 [4] 7.3 km (10:50 / km)

o meet lake maria: great day ,great park. using a newer compass to me, wrist compass, still getting used to it. 1st two comtrols had trouble staying contact with the map properly, and compass was distracting. Feel like thumb compass may be better choice for this type of nav, and wrist comp. better for rogaine or AR style nav. I'll give wrist comp. some time. On way to 4th and 5th control, compass bit me (actually my fault) and did not figure it out until 150 m into leg. one poor route choice,. did ok for knocking the rust out.

decided to do a second course for practice. obviously, bit easier routes, and some controls were the same as earlier, but did best to read map at all times. smoother run, figured out compass a bit better. beautiful woods
