On way to Duluth for work, stopped in Mora for an afternoon ski scouting session. Worked on keeping the heart rate reasonable for the duration of workout. Did the last half in the dark so got to use my headlamp which was fun. A little bit uninspiring imo, good to see the terrain for this weekend beforehand and get the feel.

1st race for '17 season. ski Loppett at T-Wirth park. Due to lack of snow and warm wx, the course was shortened, and in a loop format. 3 x 4.8k loop. Fun time. Did ok, considering hills are my death. Still being new to the ski scene, I never really know where to line up, to far towards the front, I go out to hard and blow up; to far back and I end up behind a train of slower/less experienced racers, losing time in a relatively short event. I played it conservative and within 50 meters, of the start a pile-up occurred and I was just behind it. Got hung up trying to get around them, and then slow double polers. After about half a lap, I was able to start to get into a rhythm and pace. Bright sunny day....ended up basically middle pack, slight improvement over last year, yay.
