Blorenge fell race
Last year I only jogged up this to take pictures and that was hard enough - was a bit nervous for the grim feelings today!
Hills not my forte at the mo but glad to get quite far up the wooded section feeling strong before any bits of walking (the rest of the climb on the open fell is pretty much a walking race anyway!). Nice views briefly at the top :) Descent started okay but the path through the woods was pretty dodgy being rocky and covered in leaves so took it a bit easier.
9th overall and 1st lady (12s off the record, should have done that descent quicker!)

Note

Not a great month of training. Various niggles (which have come and gone quickly), plenty uni work and some added emotional (family)..
Exams in January so hoping to keep upping mileage slowly and adding in more hills being at home and in Lanzarote! Then loads of orienteering plans for spring/summer when uni work reduces :)

Castell Coch, welsh league
Felt a bit tentative about starting given they had found a body out there, but eventually headed out. Bit fast through the first few and v wobbly but not much time lost. Then settled in, caught Owain Jones and kind of raced him around the middle style bit until control 11. Stopped for a while to consider routechoice to 12. First instinct was the best route, around to the left but couldn’t bring myself to go back on myself towards 10 and 9 so ended up going straight (not the straightest way either because of a certain incident..). Basically gave myself as much climb as possible on this leg. After that, good again and caught Owain who had taken a better route to 12, and also Peter Ward. Had fun racing those two around the final section, helped keep the speed a bit higher.
3rd, not too far off adam actually! But a solid 12 mins off ben’s time, which I feel is a bit much even if he knows the area off by heart.. anyway, map was good!
