Orienteering 18:34 [4] 3.7 km (5:01 / km) +115m 4:21 / km

Ponderosa sprint
Didn’t feel very sprinty on the slippery paths and cobbles, also fell over on the way to 3 so mostly just trying to stay on my feet, but generally kept on top of the navigation well :) Caught sight of Cecilie about 5 and Kirstin at 7, so had some fun sprinting around the housing with them then struggled on up the hill for the last loop. No real mistakes out there but potentially better routechoices.

O intervals with Charlotte & Cat at Tankersley. Good training, not super focussed on technical but a good reminder for future head-to-heads to remember to navigate and not just run :D

Went out for a keen loop of Stoke park with Ben and only made it 2.4km before bonking lol. Don’t think I’ve eaten enough the last couple of days since the long depleted my stores. Didn’t actually eat enough before that race but had no appetite at the time - now I do.. Gimme fooooooood

POM day 4, chasing start long
I was in 4th going into this but Venla didn’t race today so actually started 3rd with Johanna 7mins and Rebecka 4mins in front. Mistake at 1, allowing the Halden girls to catch up a bit (~1:30 behind). Clean through the next ones and caught Rebecka having already made big mistakes by control 5. Left her on 7, where she actually made a huge parallel error so was on my own again. Okay then, mistake on 11 and getting tired and hungry already. Took gel on long leg to 13 and subsequently messed up my route! Losing my head a bit through phi loop and mistake on 19, where Rebecka and 2 others came through. Thought I was definitely in 5th now, and on my own again waiting for the finish to come to me. Made it through the final 10 controls without any biggies, hoping to have held off 6th place.
Was a nice surprise to find I was actually 2nd on the run in! And actually had almost caught Johanna too. Still not used to this long distance - always feeling like others must be going so much faster and better, and especially today when the times were so long for a 12k course.
Nice to finish POM 2nd anyway and have actually caught up so much time since day 1 :)

Flying back to Bristol tonight and will probably take a few chill days before Sheffield on the weekend. This has been a nice break.

Running 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Orienteering 35:38 [4] 6.0 km (5:56 / km) +100m 5:29 / km

POM day 3 (WRE)
Not quite the maze of day 1 but definitely bushier forest than yesterday. Started well and accurately through to control 8. Mistake on 9 - didn’t pick up the path I wanted then also missed in the circle not going off anything secure. Scrappy to 10 and wrong hill on 11. Then back to being secure again and pretty clean through the rest of the course.
Can see that i’m struggling in low vis. Something to work on in general.
Otherwise happy with 10th today and excited for the chase tomorrow :)

POM day 2
A good race yay!! Forest much cleaner than yesterday, still some bushy bits and deep heather but on the whole a lot better visibility and white forest. Amazed that I got away without anything that I would normally call a mistake and only had a few small bananas. Just steady and checking direction and looking up a lot, and also not letting the next control be the one that let me down. Nice to take the win :D
Didn’t think I’d be able to actually catch up time from yesterday but have managed to bump myself up from 31st to 6th overall haha, back in the game
