World Cup Middle from 2018 on Valdstejn
Great fun, was absolutely loving the rock passages around 11-14 and I think it’s awesome that some of the WOC races will be in similar terrain. May have taken a few too many path routes (or at least it looked like a lot of the top finishers took straighter routes more often). Can’t really compare times as there were a few differences like I ran through field to 2 which was OOB in race and didn’t start at Castle but at the start point. But also no flags out for me so more hesitant in control circles to double check place. Good to compare routechoices though and to feel how physical it was to race - going to need some power in the legs!

Running a WRE long race from 2019 at Selska Rokle, some interesting routechoices but a lot of path running. Stopped at 15 as the remainder of the course looked like 95% track and just dipping off to the controls..

Note

In Czech for next week and a half with Ben for some training :) We booked this in August after Tio was cancelled, and before Czech was added to the UK quarantine list, so we’ll have to quarantine now after this. We had also planned to be going for Euromeeting in November but we’ve agreed not to go to that now - we didn’t have anything booked for it yet and don’t really want to quarantine a third time, so we might try to do something in the UK instead (though lockdowns are coming in thick and fast).
The last time I had enough holiday for an actual training camp was Summer 2018 before I started working so it feels pretty novel to have spare holiday time to do it - one upside on the pandemic and cancelled events?! I might try to figure out extra time off with work in future so I can do at least a couple camps per year as well as all of the big comps.

Lovely run around Mewslade and Fall, around coast past Worms head, over Rhossili Down and back along beach. Stopped there for a perfect sunset swim :)) (and then it got pretty cold so we ran back up to the car)
