Our family made it through a very tough day. All went as well as it could have, except for the hairy driving weather for out-of-towners. So glad I spoke.
We had an unexpected and wonderful experience tonight when we googled "homeless shelter Brantford" then drove there with leftover sandwiches, veggies and cheese from the reception. They took us on a tour that gave us ideas for other types of help they could use. Dad would have been pleased.

6th Annual Waterfalls of Hamilton Run in the Dundas Valley followed by yummy lunch and awesome company at Trav and Baloney's place. No snow or ice on the trails this year - kinda strange for January but great for running. I was with Charlotte V, Chris and one of their friends whose name has unfortunately exited my brain. Char wanted to learn how to navigate so we did a little work on that.
Baloney blew my mind when she told me that she is also a sod grower's daughter. Our fathers probably knew each other - and definitely knew *of* each other. Very cool that I could know someone for 12 years and just find this out now. I need to talk more to my friends.
More tears tonight when online tributes to Dad were published. Of course I love my Dad and am proud of him but it's very moving to hear that other people cared about him too.

Run around Palgrave to clear my head. I have to speak at Dad's funeral - not an easy thing to prepare for.
We got 2 cm of snow in a squall shortly before I went out so it was hard to see ice patches on the trail. I should have gone back to change to Spikecross but I toughed it out and ended up smashing my knee and hip hard in a fall. After that, I was super cautious. Now that it's a few hours later, I think the hip will just be a minor bruise but the knee has several cuts and is a little swollen with some crackly noises when I bend it. You'd think I'd have learned by now that it's not worth trying to be a hero when I have multiple pairs of footwear at home that work really well on ice.
Nice run otherwise. Luckily, I totally forgot about the alleged cougar sightings around here before Christmas.

I went back to Week 2 of Slowrunner's strength training program since I haven't been doing anything. I added some foot strength since I've been lax about that too.
