Kelly Anne Wald is running the Oil Creek 100 Miler in three weeks and wondered if I'd like to join her for a 6-hr run today. Oh, why not? :)

We parked at the north end of Hockley on Dunby Road, thinking we might run north to Mono Cliffs after finishing the Hockley Loop. Instead, we did our Loop, then ran back into Hockley to do two of the side trails. It was our first time running together so we had a ton of things to talk about, and we were well matched for pace at that distance. She's been training well and seems ready to cruise through her 100 miler!

I set up an aid station on 5th Line and we used our cars for a second aid station. It was not an insanely hot day but it was humid again - another sweaty run with Humidex in the 30s. Summer has been great but bring on autumn!

Time deducted for aid station breaks etc. Elapsed time 6 hrs.

BazingaDog was crying early in the morning again - not because he's sore but because he's tired of not having his freedom. Only 10.5 more weeks until he should be ready to run in the yard. In the meantime, sleep deprivation is building up.

Strength & Mobility 35:00 [1]

Mostly injury prevention stuff with some core

With an insanely hot summer nearly over, *now* Alex Hutchinson decides to tell us the trick for performing better in the heat: positive self-talk. "I'm not melting; I'm beautiful!" Or something like that. ;)

Tomorrow is the new Great Albion Enduro mountain bike race hosted by Superfly Racing. They are offering 40 km or 80 km (two loops) routes through Albion Hills and Palgrave, and the course will travel most of the one-way single track in the opposite direction from usual. Riders should have fun although I sure hope the weather forecast is wrong.

I rode around Albion Hills and Palgrave hanging posters for the Star Tracks MTB adventure race. As Cristina would say, I did some O-vangelism here and there. Or in this case, I gues it was MTBO-vangelism. I met two riders who took a photo of the poster to get the info after chatting with me for awhile, so that's a start.

If anyone is planning to enter, it would be great if you would consider signing up, oh, right now in case any mountain bikers check the list of registered racers. It's not empty; there are 2 people on it. But it would be nice if they get the impression that the event is real.

Lots of stops, of course. Time deducted for poster hanging and chatting people up.

BazingaDog seems to be recovering well from his surgery even though it's going to be a long journey. We're just starting Week 2 of twelve weeks of reduced activity, rehab and extreme boredom. He cries in the morning because AdventureDog is up doing the usual routine that B-Dog isn't allowed to do yet. I'm not getting much sleep. The biggest challenge is trying to find ways to keep him mentally stimulated. He's a smart dog and he knows that it sucks to spend so much time in a cage lying down. Some tricks only work a few times, then I need to think up new ones.

I ran to Centreville Creek Rd. and back on the Oak Ridges Trail. I felt tired before I started but it was a beautiful day and the trail is in good shape. There were only a few short sections with weeds taller than me overhanging the trail. My upper left glute was quite sore and not doing its job. Not sure if it's from Sunday's long run or from an unaccustomed stretch I did in yoga last night. Fingers crossed that it disappears as quickly as it arose.

SUP paddle at the quarry. Squirt came this week to try it out!

Power Yoga (SUP) 30:00 [1]

Last SUP yoga class of the season. Felt wonderful but it was just chilly enough lying on a damp paddleboard that it felt right to say au revoir until next spring.

Fun Albion Hills ride with Dee and Mrs. Gally. I'm the tour guide when they come up here so I used this ride to secretly scout a few CP locations for the Star Tracks Mountain Bike Adventure at Albion Hills on Sunday, October 16.

You're probably saying to yourself, "That sounds awesome! I wonder if registration is open yet."

Why yes, as a matter of fact, it is! And you can still pay Earlybird fees. The fastest growing category last year was "Family" and we hope to see even more AR parents and kids out this year. Mrs. Wilberto and Julianne are the defending champions of the Family division.

Attackpointers have traditionally done well at Star Tracks. Open male and female champions last year were Wokitoki and Dee, with Timato and Browner as the silver medalists. Coach LD was the fastest woman overall and Masters female champion.

P.S. Don't worry, I didn't give Dee and Mrs. Gally any hints since they really don't need any! My mission took us on a very different route around the park from usual. Trails are in great shape - maybe a bit dusty in places after a summer of drought.

Bike computer distance.

The parent/runners out there failed to advise me that 8- and 10-year-old kids may not care about personal space. It's been 10 days since both my Achilles tendons were stepped on multiple times by tailgating children. My fault for wearing flip flops! I thought it would be short term but my formerly good right Achilles has still not recovered. Initiating ice and home physio.
