'Bent and I celebrated Canada Day by parking at the lookout just south of Kimberley and slowly running a loop on Bruce main/side trails on both sides of the Beaver Valley. The extreme heat warning meant we had the trails to ourselves although we encountered a few people near some swimming holes enroute.
We'd both frozen our hydration bladders but - incredibly - 'Bent's refused to thaw even after 2.5 hours and he ran out of water. We actually had to take a break to leave it lying out in the sun on a black background - but even that didn't result in a lot of melting so he had to share my delicious ice water. I think my secret was forgetting to put the bladder in the freezer until 9 p.m. instead of doing it earlier in the day.
We had a terrific lunch at the Kimberley General Store where I inhaled a chocolate milkshake in about 30 seconds! Then we took the dogs for a walk on leash in Georgian Bay at Sunset Point Beach. We just learned that it's legal - yay! Lots of people were out enjoying the holiday weather. We followed that up with music in the park in Thornbury. Full tourist experience this weekend!
