Orienteering race 1:29:29 [4] 14.6 km (6:08 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212s

Fair to say this didn't go well. Messed #3 up by thinking I could get through the impenetrable gorse and so lost 1.30 going round a silly way compared to not taking a route through the gorse when I left #2. Overshot #5 a little bit. Slow to #10 having died up the hill to #9. Really bad on #12. Took a poor route going down the spur and getting stuck in some questionably mapped gorse losing about a minute and then when I came out on the ride I checked my compass to make sure I knew which ride I was on and read it wrong or something because i thought i was on the other ride. Duley turned left and lost 2 minutes running the wrong way so 3 total. Slow up the hill to #13. Bad direction on #15 losing nearly a minute. Was going well to #17 when I for some reason thought I was running the wrong way and so turned sharply right and ran before realizing and going back left. Lost 2 minutes. Too far right on #18. Overall lost a lot of time through running pretty slowly. Couldn't keep the intensity up and got a bit bored to be honest towards the end. Last control and the finish my dibber failed yet again. Didn't register the last control. Fine. Just use the pin punch. At the finish it didn't beep or flash and so I assumed it wasn't registering. Therefore hung around talking to the guy on the finish and repeatedly punched the finish thinking maybe it'll work if I hold it in longer. Did this for about 3 minutes after I actually finished and didn't stop my watch for a bit either so I don't know what time I actually did exactly. Downloaded and apparently the finish did register and so my time from the second last control (last working punch) to the finish was just over 5 minutes when it was only 2 minutes so bit odd really. Reckon I was similar to Tam. Definitely getting a new dibber and hopefully its here for next weekend.

Strength and conditioning 30:00 [1]

Finally got to see what happens during garage circuits. Basically 3 sets of 9 exercises with 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off and then 1 min between sets. Exercises were squats, squat thrusts, ickey shuffle, tricep dips, calf raises, plank, sit ups, press ups and finally a core exercise of your choice.

Running 1:07:45 [3] 13.2 km (5:08 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

My return to Holmfirth Harriers. I was immediately confronted by a request to run at the national road relays which I unfortunately had to turn down due to a clash with the Whitby sprint. It was quite hard to explain how that was more important than a national running race, representing the club but I think I got through. Alwyn was at the track I think so I set out with a rather large group which I quickly realised was a bit slow and so spent 20 minutes trying to subtly get away from them. Eventually managed it and the run immediately became more fun when I discovered a beaut bit of woodland at the top of Wolfstones that I hadn't been in and I got a bit over excited and ran around in circles in it for a bit. Eventually left it and went through Meltham golf course and then up over to Honley woods and back. Just about made it back before it got too dark. Very enjoyable overall and nice to be back out on familiar tracks.

Note
(rest day)

Must have got 12 or 13 hours sleep last night, much needed. Yesterday took a lot more out of me than I thought it would.
