Orienteering race (Scottish Champs relay) 1:24:07 [4] **** 6.69 km (12:34 / km) +149m 11:19 / km
shoes: Inov8 mudclaw270s

Above details from GPS.
C course in 15+ handicap relay team. Course distance 5.075k. C2-BB. Team 10/22 My gaffle 11/17 (won in 58.31)
I'm glad it was decided to map this area as I generally enjoyed it. Was a bit slow for 5k, but not very considering my level of (un)fitness at the moment. As yesterday was a tiring day it was difficult to decide how much slowness today was due to tired legs from yesterday as well.
It was good to get parked near the assembly area in the end, and it was a good assembly area.
Hope they let us use the area again as it will be interesting to come back to.

NB No pain from hamstring this weekend either, bet it gets sore as soon as I try training this week. Maybe my legs only don't ache if I'm running through tough forests, and don't like roads and flat grass.

Orienteering race (Scottish Individuals W45L) 1:34:41 [4] **** 8.21 km (11:32 / km) +122m 10:44 / km
shoes: Inov8 mudclaw270s

W45L course. Supposed to be 5.2k 170m. Above values Garmin forerunner 305.
1 stupid mistake otherwise OK but dehydrated at the finish as helping at the start and forgot to take any water with me so by the time I finished hadn't drank for 4 hours.
Very physical and came 18/21. but consoled by thinking less fit folk don't usually run the long courses at the Scottish champs. W45 winner won in 47 min which was good considering the terrain.

joggling 25:00 [2] 3.1 km (8:04 / km)

Started running. R hamstring niggling again so slow run round the park then decided to have a go at barefoot running copying Graeme as I obviously wasn't going to be able to do anything energetic. Managed to avoid the windblown twigs and dog poo and someone nicking my trainers.. Did some stretching midway through, thought I'd use the brief stretch technique in compasssport but that just seemed to make it worse.

Orienteering race (middle distance mess) 1:45:00 [3] 5.86 km (17:55 / km) +286m 14:24 / km
ahr:162 shoes: Jalas Jukolas

Nice area, shame about my orienteering, and I got a blister. Only good thing was my hamstring didn't hurt.

running (aborted run) 6:00 [3] 0.8 km (7:30 / km)

Started running, ache in L hamstring initially turned into severe pain after about 5 min so stopped and walked home. Highly pissed off. Developed a left buttock muscle injury about this time last year that took several months, an MRI scan and 80mg depomedrone to settle and don't want a repeat of that this year with my hamstring. Am supposed to be running in the lakes and Scottish champs this month and doing an MTBO race. Looks like I'll be helping Dave on Sunday rather than running the blue Deuchny course (which I'd been looking forward to as we don't go into the Murrayshall extension that often and it's SI units unlike my noddy Easter perm marker courses). Will be seriously pissed off if I can't run next Saturday.
Consoling myself with nice cava. Have been cutting down weekday alcohol consumption to shift some weight and get myself fitter, right waste of time that was. 5 hours of sitting listening to Wagner at the Cameo tomorrow should rest my hamstring a bit. have got my sports medicine book out and have a nice list of stretches to go through. Don't like the bit about hamstring injuries taking ages to heal though, it's not as though I've even done anything to it. Think that's enough feeling sorry for myself.

stretching/yoga warm up/down 15 [1]

Stretching esp hamstrings whilst watching TV.

running (slow jog) 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)

Intended to go out for 30-40 min but got sore hamstrings after 5 minutes, my legs haven't been right since all the cycling weekend before last. Will have to restart the stretching. GPS battery ran out as well.

Note

Too grumpy at election result (SGP were hoping to get Mark Ruskell back in in Mid Scotland and Fife) to do any running. Drank beer and ate curry instead.
At least the Tories didn't win I suppose, and hopefully the NATs will continue to leave the NHS alone.

MTBO race (Score) 3:02:33 [3] 33.9 km (5:23 / km) +439m 5:03 / km

MTBO 3 hour score event in Peebles. Covered Glentress, Cademuir and Harehope Hill. Most of us went round the latter 2 areas because the points were better, also I'm crap at the narrow sharp descents on the red and black runs at Glentress. Went round as a mixed pair with my husband, who's a cyclist who dislikes orienteering, but cycle orienteering was a compromise.
We were doing well for the first 2 hours despite me not having spent more than an hour on my bike for several months. I then panicked we wouldn't get back in time and came back via a safish route with minimal points, a mistake in retrospect as continuing on as planned would have been just as fast and got us in with the prizes. : (
There's another one at Innerleithen next month. May give that a go, might take Duncan and go as an intergeneration pair.
