shoes: Nike Pegasus

Boring run but no aches and pains.

Sunday Jul 24, 2011 #

joggling (collecting controls) 20:00 [3] 2.5 km (8:00 / km)

My plan to orienteer at our event went pear shaped when we had a wild boar/ pig on the loose chasing competitors and a barbecue to light. It was too hot to run anyway.

running race (Beveridge Park 5k) 27:21 [5] 5.03 km (5:26 / km) +56m 5:09 / km
ahr:180 max:190 shoes: Nike Pegasus

That hurt. Fastest I've ran for a while. Still managed to be 3rd from last. Where are all the fat people in gorilla suits when you need them?
I wondered if it was my highest maximum HR, but I see I managed 198 at the Scottish night champs, I don't recall running that fast there, thought I spent more time getting lost.

12 PM

joggling (wearing in Bikilas) 13:04 [2] 1.82 km (7:11 / km) +18m 6:50 / km
shoes: Vibram five finger Bikila

To and from library via park in new Bikilas.
Half way between trainers and barefoot as comfortable over cobbles and tarmac with small stones on surface but I did notice I was running on my forefoot more. Heel tabs a bit high, may need to take scissors to them if my achilles start to get sore. They are well designed apart from heel tabs that are too high and too firm. I see the KSOs have a lower heeltab.

60sec on, 60 off, 90 on, 60 off, 120 on, 90 off.
4 lots of above then home.

Round Blairadam. Lots of wild flowers. Geocaches found 3 ftf 1

running (laps of park) 36:55 [3] 5.83 km (6:20 / km) +111m 5:47 / km

round and round the steep bit of the park until I got hungry and fed up.

Orienteering race (Ed urban O) 48:55 [4] 7.0 km (6:59 / km) +49m 6:45 / km
shoes: Nike Pegasus

2nd in the short urban-O in the Dean area. Wasn't feeling particularly fast but I think I made fewer mistakes than others as you had to work most legs out in advance today, not just run in vaguely the right direction.

8 PM

stretching/yoga 20:00 [1]

Aching legs today, especially quads.

Sunday Jul 3, 2011 #

5 PM

cycling (slow cycle with geocaches) 40:22 [2] 11.42 km (3:32 / km) +69m 3:26 / km

Sore legs today but thought I should do something as it's a nice day so pootled round 5 geocaches down local tracks on my bike.

2 PM

Hill "running" race (Dollar hill race) 2:50:04 [5] 15.34 km (11:05 / km) +848m 8:41 / km
shoes: inov8 flyroc310 pair 2

Finally got round to doing this race. Weather hot and sunny. First third an unpleasant ascent, rest of it nice, good views, went over on my ankle a couple of times on the way down. but managed to keep running to the end Phil Smithard ran down the last bit with me (he wasn't competing. would have been way ahead of me if he was). Came 98/100 but came home with 2 bottles of beer as Carnegie won the womens team prize by default.
