Napa Valley Marathon. 1st Marathon in 4 years! I grossly underestimated the course and the ‘rolling’ hills. I know it is a net downhill, but it sure seemed tough. I started losing steam somewhere around mile 12 and used the 1/2 marathoners port-a-potties right before the halfway mark. Mile 16 was my biggest low and the longes mile, but once I started drinking (2) cups of water at the aid stations life got significantly better. The bank in the road for the first 10miles was rough and was super happy when the road finally leveled out. We had a headwind for the length of hte race, and it only got worse as the miles passed. The time is not what I had hoped, but in the end I’m super happy to have been the best Katie I could be today and extremely grateful to know that my body can do this again. Looking forward to more adventures this year. #runningishard

Finding my gears before the weekend. 5min easy, 5min MP, 5min Threshold, x 2. Ran around the Ponds - 37° and got out under blue skies just as the fog lifted. Everything still covered in Pogonip - beautiful time to run.
