11 AM

Running hills 2:10:00 [4] 12.49 km (10:25 / km) +1267m 6:54 / km
shoes: Hoka Stinson ATR 4

Back to Georgian for 5 more repeats with poles.
Good mountain weather training- at times it dumped rain, fogged in, and we had some good wind gusts.

The Hokas felt fine, but boy did they pick up bricks of clay on lap 3 with their huge footprint and deep indents.

Switched to the Calderas, which felt a lot lighter and more agile on the way up but definitely thumped more on the descent. Both shoes felt comfy, with no blister issues.

Got down 1.5L infinit and 0.5l water.

Lunch at Pie after!

Note

Brody the former Bazingadog seems to be feeling a bit better this morning. He got up and trotted around the yard. We'll see what the vet says. He was a mess yesterday.

Better still later this morning. Vet guesses he hurt his back or something. Easy week coming up.
10 AM

Running 1:58:57 [3] 16.22 km (7:20 / km) +511m 6:20 / km
shoes: Hoka Stinson ATR 4

Tested out the Stinsons on a rough section of the Bruce with lots of steep and slippery sections. 7th line down to Hwy 9+ side trail, then back up to the Gazebo and back.

Shoes are super-comfy, with that magic Hoka downhill float, but I may need thicker socks or a thin insole.

Running 53:00 [3]
shoes: Hoka Stinson ATR 4

Ran in with the big boy. He was running well and was happy at work until around 10:30 when something must have happened as he was crying in his bed and wouldn't get up. I had to call Bash to come get poor Brody and had to carry him to the car. Not sure if it's his other leg or something else.

He was sore in the evening, and took a lot of coaxing to go out and pee. Still crying a bit if he gets up, then sits down and doesn't want to move.
He has a vet appt tomorrow.

Ran home in the new Hokas that are to replace my failed Challengers.
The Stinson 4s are a wider fit with a better, more solid sole. Most comfy Hokas ever for me- should be good for UTMR with Calderas as alternates.

Running 55:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks Caldera blue

Commute with the big guy. He went airborne afer some turkeys launched out of the grass right beside us.

New shoes feel good- almost hoka-like, but wider.

Also sprinted all the hills home including Rollercoaster and pond hill switchback repeat.
