Storm with Tarno.
This one was a mix of 5 short runs/treks, one paddle shortened due to weather and 4 very hilly bike rides. Most vertical ever in Storm.
Bob sent us up and down each side of Hockley Valley multiple times, including running up the ski hill then down and riding up it again on singletrack.
Tarno was in great form- fast on climbs, very good on the map. I basically tried to hang on during the big hills on gravel in pouring rain without trashing my legs for later. We made up time on the 2 more technical treks, but my plan to run in x-alp bike shoes hurt my knee. In the last third it hurt worse and worse, despite changing to running shoes for the trek, and the knee was pretty much locked up when we rolled into the finish, where it hurt to pedal even on the flats.

Still a great day to be out racing with my buddy. Sean and Eddie basically tied the Russian co-ed team for first overall in just under 6 hrs, and last year’s winners Adam and Jacek are now Masters and we were second to them. 9th overall.

Bash and Coach LD came in later, surprised to hear that yet again they were first female overall! So consistent and strong!

Running 58:00 [3]
shoes: Topo MTNRacer 3

Commute with Stephen. He hates his cooling vest, but ran well with it especially when chasing a breakaway up the road (flock of running turkeys)

Wednesday May 22 #

Running 1:05:00 [2]
shoes: Topo MTNRacer 3

Early cool morning loop with the dogs, then an easy commute in the humid warm day with AD.

Strength 45:00 [3]

Quick workout 2 plus some rehab

Paddlng 2:30:00 [2]

Family paddle up the Beaver river. Stephen didn’t jump out, and the spring birds were great- orioles, warbling vireos, duelling Marsh wrens and a Sora that called right beside us.

Paddlng 15:00 [3]

Erg while it poured out.
Figured I need a little kayak paddling before Storm.
