Orienteering race 41:37 [3] 2.47 km (16:51 / km) +167m 12:36 / km
shoes: Icebugs

A fun night-O at Ratlum. With right hip still hurting and yet benefiting from PT, I resolved to do the short course and not to run. Essentially a trail walk, and where I was off trail, I managed to get confused on direction (#3 to #4) and came out on wrong trail. But I quickly saw the error and corrected. Got very intimate with the laurel going into #7, and didn't find it much easier re-emerging. Feeling loosened up after the climb from #9 to #10, I found it comfortable to long-stride, fast-walk (no, not running) the rest of the way. My route.

Got back to the house with the pack and enjoyed another potluck party with the hardcore. With Lyn and George, got a quick demo from Charlie of some effective yoga exercises.

Thank you, Charlie and Rhonda, for another generous edition of your RHINO hospitality.

A successful completion of the Green at Sessions Woods. And one of my better times for the distance. Of course that venue is almost like my backyard, I've been there a lot and set many courses there. So the map and features were well known to me. Nevertheless I took opportunity to stay with the map and select interim waypoints. My only concerns were whether I had gone far enough on 3, 5, 7, the turn eastward on 8, and 11 (didn't read the short E-W wall and got confused). My route.

Outside right hip and the top of the right foot were aching the last half, so I couldn't run on the trails as well as I did in past years. Kinda hobbling. I had hoped to hang around and help with the pick up, but it was all I could do to limp back to the car. Going back into the woods was out of the question. Got home and iced down, then jacuzzi. Concentrated then on engaging the quads, adductor and glutes as the therapist told me to and began feeling better and compensating less.

A very fun course set by George and Lyn and quite nice of them to have executed the meet just days after the two of them each won their divisions at the MRR. Strong and capable folks. Thanks.
