After a month of wrangling with alternative softwares, I finally got Catching Features to work again for me. It had been failing to connect with the event server, encountered delays in a facility (Avast) meant to screen out malicious websites. The delays were long enough for certain nodes to drop the effort. The cure: uninstalled Avast.

Now if Wine would only fix the sound problem, I wouldn't have to pay ransom to Parallels and Windows.
