MARMITE MOTORWAY

Today was a shit day, left Sheffield at 7.30 hoping to be in clinic early and did not get to Rotherham until 10AM, the way back was not much better 4.45-6.10. Honestly, if only I could run !

I didnt have any time to work out tonight so done a quick warm up on the X-trainer and then 20mins of core, I'm feeling much stronger than I was and am starting to enjoy doing these workouts much more. I cant really do lunges etc because of my foot so it is mostly just planks of all kinds and light arm weights.

I am considering getting a road bike for days like today.

S10 are cunts. I have just upgraded my membership and now they are closing the gym on the 15th of December and the guy showed me a form I signed were it mentioned in the smallprint about the gym closure, dam. Also if you ever wanted to Aqua Jog - do not even think about it, not in any lane as you may slow down Barbra in the slowest of the 2 slow lanes.

(injured) (rest day)

Having a rest day today , foot is slowly getting better but I dont think Ill be running for another month at least.
Im really gutted Im not running tomorrow; sefton is the best race of the year for me because its a huge quality race but has my local liverpool league encorporated into it so all my old club mates and school friends are there. Anyhow Ill be there to support , my prediction is Steve Vernon a the way. Athleticos predicted me to win with Dave a close second but Ive just informed them I wont ve running. Shame !

Note
(injured)

Ok. Im not really sure what is going on with my foot, there is a fair amount of pain when I apply pressure on one foot when standing and the pain is eased with anti-inflammatorys. I dont know if it is a small fracture or not. I guess if it gets better during the week then the cause is more than likely related to inflammation, if it persists then its more than limely a stress fracture and then Ill see if I can get an Xray. However from what I understand stress fractures dont usually show up on Xrays. I dont think ab MRI of my foot is a particularly good way to use NHS cash.

I have three goals now:
1. Get stronger (circuits etc)
2.Maintain CV fitness (swim xtarain cycle row)
3. Lose a few Kgs.

This may be a blessing in disguise as I have my final pre-application exams in 3 weeks.

Anyways Im pretty gutted and with the weather being so great today also.
Chin up and get on with it !
2 PM

X-trainer 2:07:00 [3] 0.0 mi
ahr:148

This was a long and tedious 2 hours and 7 minutes. I decided to use my HRM and I wanted to work prettx hard so kept HR between 140-160 which is 70-80% max. I cant describe in words how boring this was and how much I appreciate running.

On a positive note, the pain in mx foot is easing and I am now walking normally. Given the improvement I doubt very much this is a stress fracture but Ill see how things turn out during the week. Ive not complegley ruled out the idea of running sat just yet.

I want to know what is happening in my brain when I’m out running on stunning Sunday mornings like this one. Somebody design an fMRI that I can wear when I’m running and let’s see what’s going on. Today was a long one with me, Andy C and Ben. I’m not too sure of the route but it involved lots of off-road and running up to the knees deep in mud out Stanage way. My nipples were bleeding profusely and I soon had to abandon the vest, but on/in the peat the experience was epic and gives me the sort of fulfilment that only comes with long runs away from the roads. Coming back into Sheffield I must have looked a little crazy but to me I couldn’t think of a more intensely primitive way of spending a morning in Yorkshire and maybe some people need to stop being so fearful/lazy and get out there and experience something.
When you return home there is no crash, no come down after taking a pill. There is a stillness and a peacefulness of mind which allows you to focus and flourish in other aspects of your life, appreciate the simple things like a cup of tea and get your head round some of the more complex which at the moment for me is the mind and body of a woman as I’m on my women’s health placement.
