It's been a tough three day of training and I'm feeling good for it but tired. Stopped after 400 on the third rep and was going to bin it but joined in with Pete and Paul who were running a pace I could just about hang on to. Phil was moving very nicely up ahead.

My legs were feeling heavy today and running the 200s was extremley hard work.

Ride back from track.

Running 4:25 [3] 1.5 km (2:57 / km)

Sheffield festival of Athletics.

Well that was a rust buster and a big shock to the system.

Time was not great by any means but had a good competitive race.

Phil Williams and Connor along with one other guy had a big lead on the second group which had me, Josh and one other.
The three of us ran the first two laps comfortably, probably too much so before I pushed ahead on the third. Stayed strong over the last 300 to keep Josh behind me.

Enjoyed the race and am looking forward to racing more this season.

Commuting to work and to and from track.
6 PM

Running 49:00 [3] 5.8 mi (8:27 / mi)

Wow, that was painful. I forgot just how painful middle distance sessions like this are.

The session was Jonny Tobins idea, he's coaches by his dad at Swansea Harriers. I was planning on doing something sort of similar so joined in with him and Callum.

2 x 600 (90s)
2 x 400 (60s)
2 x 300 (45s)
3 x 200 (30s)
With 4 minutes recovery inbetween sets.

Times were not great but I was working bloody hard and I think that is the most important thing. Legs still feeling a little tight after yesterdays sprinting, I'm hoping that in a few weeks I'll get used to the monday sprint sessions.

Running 55:56 [3] 6.9 mi (8:06 / mi)

Hallamshire Middle Distance Session

600 (10min rec) 300 (10min rec) 200

1.38 , 42 , 26

Didn't quite known what to expect from this. After going through 400 in 60/61 I tightened up completely to nothing more than a jog for the last 200 of the first rep.

The 300 and 200 show that the top end speed is there and that it is the speed endurance that I need to work on. Pleased that I am capable of running that 300 and 200 fast, being within one second of Cameron on these, however he did run his 600 in around 1.25. One the whole pleased with what I learnt from the session.

Running 2:07:21 [3] 17.03 mi (7:29 / mi)

A new long run record!
Stratford-upon-avon canal
Somewhat inspired by Rob and Steves words from The Dragons Back DVD along with Daves big win.I just didn't feel like stopping today, took it very easy throughout and enjoyed the time on feet. Great to run with no top on for a change.

Saturday Apr 11, 2015 #

5 PM

Running 44:13 [3] 6.93 mi (6:23 / mi)

Pancake flat is Stratford. Started steady and picked up to 5.50 for the last two miles. Feeling good - should of done some strides though.

Friday Apr 10, 2015 #

Note

Just watched the Dragon's Back DVD. Rob Baker is an inspirational guy, makes me want to hang up the spikes and buy some fell shoes.
6 PM

Running 46:24 [3] 6.41 mi (7:14 / mi)

Run with Sir Bayton through the parks.

Tooth pain has been terrible all week - today an X-Ray showed a raging abcess underneath my first mandibular molar and the tooth needed to come out.

Tooth removal is stone age shit, it was a horrible experience I wouldn't wish upon my closest of competitors.

Very pleased. Ran the session with captain Tobin, was working hard throughout. A confidence booster going into the track season.

Monday Apr 6, 2015 #

5 PM

Running 31:33 [3] 4.56 mi (6:55 / mi)

The last 48 hours being a blur due to mild opioids, whisky, wine and diazepam in an attempt to get this horrific tooth pain under control.
I felt like I had recovered enough to run today. The tooth pain is 90% better but still dont know what is causing it. I've not been able to get an emergency appointment all weekend and no dentist could safely drill into my mouth as it is surrounded by cold-sores.

Besides this I really enjoyed running today and am hoping things continue to improve so I can session tomorrow.

Gastro is now over and I'm now working 9-5 on psychiatry for four months, which I hope will allow for consistent training.

The goal is to run sub 4 for 1500, and right now I'm a world away from that. Consistent fast sessions and at least 40-50 miles along with lots of races.

Saturday Apr 4, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Severe toothache, can't get an emergency dentist appointment. Fucking horrible.

Friday Apr 3, 2015 #

10 AM

Cycling 9:19:00 [3] 100.0 mi (5:35 / mi)

Me and Dom cycled back home to the wirral for Easter.
I was riding a heavily laden touring bike and Dom was on her road bike with no panniers, this balanced things out a bit. Quite how I got up Winnats Pass I don't know.

Mentally and physically this was challenging. It rained all day and we had a head wind from Macclesfield onwards. We arrived home about 10.30pm.

Thursday Apr 2, 2015 #

6 PM

Running 45:40 [3] 7.1 mi (6:26 / mi)

A steady to quick run to get to Hillsborough park on time as I bumped into Tom Jenkins on the way. Good to see he is running again.

After a recent lack of sessions I decided to do back to back sessions this week.

Short fast reps in the park were on the cards. I was about 10s behind Connor on the reps, pleased with this.

3 x roughly 1k reps
1 x roughly 800m
all with 2 minutes recovery, very hard work but I felt strong.

Wednesday Apr 1, 2015 #
