Felt really, really tired this morning. Along the canal, just about enough light as I set off. I was running on empty this morning, I can never run properly in the mornings especially after a few beers in The Hallamshire House last night. Either way, glad to get it done, even though the pace is ridiculously slow.

5 x 1400m on the track, a good group down but I was much slower than everybody else tonight and ran the first three reps on my own. Just managing not to get LAPPED by Andy. I gave everybody a 100m headstart on the fourth and a 200m headstart on the fifth, enjoyable session even if slightly demoralising!

One thing to note is that my HR for the reps tonight was low, averaging less than 160 for the reps. However my legs tonight felt heavy and tired.

Travelled out to Wentworth Castle in Barnsley for the 2nd South Yorkshire league race, done a good warm up, the course was excellent for cross country and the conditions good. Then fiftenn minutes before the start there was an announcement. The race had to be cancelled because there were Deer running free on the course as they were not penned in properly as they should have been in the morning. All the other races managed to go ahead nevertheless!

Anyway, Andy dropped me off down by Attercliffe so I ran home via Hillsborough and Rivelin Valley.

An easy run through the parks with Dom shadowing me on the bike. Also did 6 X 100m strides in Bingham park. Today was the first time in as long as I can remember that running at any pace has felt really easy and my heart rate remained low.

Hoping to do another easy 30 later and race tomorrow with no particular goals, just to run hard and get round a long course!

Morning run into work. I started off feeling ok coming down to Kelham Island and also down past Attercliffe. The last 4-5 miles though I regretted not eating before I left and felt very slow and heavy legged. Heart rate relatively low which is a good thing. I've never really enjoyed running in the morning, need to stop staying up late drinking beer!

Very easy run tonight, was concerned not to push hard like I had to yesterday on the Sunday run. I went with the uni lads but dropped back behind the front group of runners, keeping my heart rate in a steady pace zone. No real niggles after two weeks of 50+ miles. I might cut back slightly to 50 maximum this week and throw in a session on Thursday, not quite sure yet though.

A big group of us all running at a good pace, it was at the upper end of 'steady' for my, pushing on what would be my threshold at times, but with only doing 1-2 sessions a week at the moment this is ok. Really enjoyed running at a better pace than I have been on my own, it also made me realise just how important to my progression running in a group is going to be.

An excellent session, I'm slowly getting fitter. A humongous gathering of people, must have been 30-40 people starting each rep, I ran the first lap in 78s and was towards the back of the pack, slowly moving through. Great to see Uni coming to join the Hallam shire lads.

Steady run from home, another awesome morning for running. About half of the run was on road, the other being on trails. Had a few beers and a big steak last night. Ran to a moderate heart rate and didn't want to push any harder as at the moment the importance is on establishing a good base.

For the first time in quite a while I have more than 50 miles in my legs!

A 'long' run by my standards. A really lovely day for running. Ran from my parents house through Arrowe Park before picking up the Wirral Way. An endorphin filled afternoon, met Dom for lunch and coffee afterwards, the cafe was aptly playing the Chariots of Fire soundtrack - the beach scene from the film was set where I had just been running.
Kept the heart rate at a moderate level and didn't push it at any point but was probably at the limit of running that was comfortable.
