2012 Goals

I hope that in a few more weeks my foot will be better, if not I will redefine what I want to do but for now I will plan with the assumption that I will be running in 2-3 weeks.

1. Trafford 10k: Target PB.
I ran 33.44 last year from approx 12 weeks of running no more than 40 miles. I doubt that I will be doing more than 50-60 miles this winter and I really do believe now in a more rounded approach to running. This means gym work, core, stretching, pilates, yoga, swimming etc - however making sure that running is the priority and everything else is to supplement rather than replace.

2. May-Mid June track season: Target Sub 4 min 1500, Sub 2 min 800.
Learning from last years mistakes and maintaining an adequate amount of mileage throughout the season.

3. Take advice on board and have respect for mileage !

- I now see that past 12 months as a series of silly and immature training errors on my part and although others have pointed this out I have not listened.
- The 10 percent rule is golden and I see that now.

4. June -December 2012

I will be spending this period on a placement in Borneo for 2 months and the rest of the time travelling around south east Asia, me and Dom have decided we are going to run as much as we can and hopefully do a few half marathons when travelling, for the enjoyment and experience if nothing else.

50 mins on Doms mums stepping machine. Huge pools of sweat on the floor, was actually quite embarrassing - Doms family keep a constant house temperature of 21 degrees which makes for a sticky workout.
This is the first sustained aerobic exercise for a few weeks, I needed it and enjoyed it immensely.
I did several efforts of various times and managed on one sprint to get my HR to 178!

I had an X Ray for my foot today. Stress fractures do not always show up on X Ray and the scan came back looking completly normal. The problem is that I still have this pain in my foot which I apply a lot of pressure on one foot, when walking there is now no pain at all so it is getting better, but slowly.
I have been experiencing Slovak culture for the first time which I am embracing without much thought of exercise so for the time being I am going to drink beer, eat and get back to training and loosing some weight when 'routine' is to be established.
