Running 1:44:53 [3] 11.48 mi (9:08 / mi)

Woke up at eleven with a sore head after far too many beers last night and missing out on the planned long run with Mike and Paul.

Ran from home through the parks to Ringinlow, through to Fox House, a lap of Burbage and then across stanage edge. FInshed up in Stanage planation were Dom and my mates were climbing. I deeply enjoyed my run today, every step felt comfortable and fluid. It's runs like this which remind me why I bother running, were I feel a satisfying connectedness to the world around me.

Spent the rest of the day drinking tea and climbing in the sun. A stunning day. To top things off we bumped into Jonny Dawes to say hi and was going to ask for a picture. He ended up spending an hour with us and teaching us how to climb some routes without hands.

A really awesome day.

Hallam Park run - 10th Place

Official time : 17.27

Very pleased with run today, a 21 second improvement on last week. The second lap was tough.

Finished nights yesterday morning and felt groggy getting up but once started racing was OK.

Running 23:51 [3] 2.88 mi (8:17 / mi)

Warm down with both the Tobins and 6 x flat out 20s hill sprints on one of the side roads by the park.

An old chap called Melvyn asked us into his house. Turns out he was the team GB combined events coach in the 80''s and showed us a collection of his photos and training plans for his athletes.

Session on The Wirral Way

6min, 5min,4min,3min,2min,1min

Recoveries 2min, 2min30, 3min, 3min30, 4min

Conditions pretty good - mild headwind on rep 1+ 3

Start nights tonight so today was my only opportunity for a good session in a normal mental state. Feeling good and working really, really hard towards the end. Finding the solo sessions a tough mental grind and was half tempted to bin it at a few points but managed to stick it out. It's difficult sometimes to differentiate between tiredness and being lazy.

4min ( 5.44min/mile)
3min ( 5.35min/mile)
