Running (Road/Bikepath) 34:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Wizard

First time back running after my break to let my calf heal up. I'm trying out a heart rate based training approach, but it seems way too light of a workout. Still, better to be slow and uninjured.

Swimming (Pool Running) 1:00:00 [3]
max:156 rhr:54 weight:162lbs

This is getting pretty boring. Tomorrow I think I will hit the treadmill.

Bought a new heart rate monitor today, the Polar S625X. Excited to try it out, but still need to take it easy so I don't reinjure my calf.

Cardio Machines (Elliptical runner) 10:00 [3]
max:188 shoes: Asics Wizard

Wanted to spend a few minutes out of the water for a change. Much easier to get my heart rate up... way up! When I got off the machine, I was at 188. 30 sec later, at 160, 30 sec later at 137. I know that your heart rate recovery is some kind of indication of your conditioning, so I recorded this info for later comparison.

Pool running at lunch time, starting to get old....

Swimming (Pool Running) 1:15:00 [2]
ahr:140 max:155 rhr:60

Pool running, plus a couple of laps of regular swimming. Towards the end, I used the footie floats instead of the belt. It really added a lot of resistance to the legs, so I think I will be using those from now on. My legs were feeling tired today, don't know if it's from the pool work or bucking hay.

My calf is feeling fine now, but it's felt like this before and I reinjure it when I go out running again. I'm getting anxious to get back on the road, but I think I'll wait a little longer, then do some treadmill work, then ease back on to the road.

Manual Labor (Bucking Hay) 1:00:00 [2]

Anybody who doesn't think bucking hay qualifies as a workout, come see me! This is actually a fun thing to do...if you only have to do it once a year. Actually spent 2:30 out there, but reduced the workout time to 1:00 based on actual time spent working vs. walking, riding, etc....
