Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle: Not "following the science" paid off. In advance of tonight's rain, both forecasts I use called for steadily thickening overcast skies. I selected my clear lenses for the deep dark forest. Just as I left the garage, the sun burst forth from the heavens, so I swapped to photochromic lenses. The sun vanished before I was at the bottom of the driveway, not to be seen for the next 2+ hours of my ride. Much to my surprise, the sun did reappear. I expected it to last about 15 seconds, but I rode in sunny skies for the rest of the ride. The darkened lenses came in handy, because the return trip south to Issaquah is straight into the low winter afternoon sun. Cha-ching!
