Newcastle/196th/Sweeney/Lake Francis 7 and 11. November became the 7th month of the year I climbed over 60,000' and I finished up the month with 11 straight riding days. Bring on the rain and wind so it's easier to stay off the bike for a few days.

For the last three days of MTB riding, I have been trying to time my ride to catch the trails when they go from tundra to permafrost to damp, the warmest temps of the day, and the highest sun position in the sky. I got everything right today, but the trails never did make it to damp.

I fell onto my side coming to a stop when I discovered that my right shoe was glued to the pedal.Turns out I had lost a cleat screw and the cleat had rotated 90 degrees. Whoops! A rider from Rhode Island in Seattle for a combo business/MTB riding pleasure trip came to the rescue with a spare screw.

Squak-Sycamore hike No more waiting! My plan was to leave an hour before the Seahawks game and ride road or MTB for three hours. After Friday's MTB ride totally in the rain, I decided to wait until it stopped today. It stopped raining just after I had given up and made a late lunch. So a little later I went for a hike and it started to rain half way through:)

Grand Ridge/Duthie MTB That just about does it...Ok, I admit it, now I am a little worn out. Past seven days: 18,000' of climbing/11h on the MTB/5h on the road bike/one rest day. It rained the entire ride-great day to test out the new Crud fender! The only people I saw was a group of 20+ senior hikers from the Auburn Hiking club. They told me that they don't melt.

Grand Ridge/Duthie MTB. The trails were in pretty good shape considering we had high winds and 2.25" of rain at the house yesterday. I only had to carry the bike over a few obstacles. I guess most of what was going to fall down fell in last Saturday's wind storm.

Grand Ridge/Duthie (Ouch)/Pavement home. I took my second fall in less than a month on a wood bridge. I guess approaching every bridge since the first fall with equal measure of caution and trepidation wasn't enough. It's tricky out on the trails! I took the short cut (pavement) home from Duthie because my hand hurt so bad I couldn't shift well, and I wanted to ice it.
