I felt pretty good, better than I figured I would. It seemed like doing lower body weights right before the ride actually helped. I have discovered caffeine on the MTB. I don't know why I haven't been using it. It's amazing how good 25mg of caffeine makes me feel, especially after going 5 months without using any at all. I'm sensitive to that stuff.

I just can't bear to let my S-Works Epic 29er remain dirty between rides. I LOVE THIS BIKE.

It was great to get out on the Tarmac! I was beginning to think that my riding on the road was going to be done only to support my mountain bike fitness, at least during this time of the year. Mountain bike riding is just a lot of pure fun.

The Rodriguez is a great bike, but it's just not special like the S-Works. As soon as I rolled out of the garage, I was struck by how efficient and smooth the Tarmac is. On the road with that bike, speed seems to build rapidly, and descending is a blast. The fun parts of road riding are just more fun on a great bike like the KING.

My legs were tired from yesterday's MTB ride with Justin, but the climbs seemed easier than normal. Maybe all of the hard climbing on the MTB is worth more than just a lot of fun!

HIT: I left at 2:40 to do some quick Z5 repeats up the Highland bike path. I wasn't warmed up and my breathing felt out of rhythm, especially the first time up. It was 36 degrees, and doing HIT in that temperature isn't smart. I planned on 6x climbs, but aborted after 3x.
