GR/Duthie/HPoint/PPoint. An otherwise great ride was a little spoiled by shifting problems that started early in the ride. I couldn't dial it in, and I think I must have hit something that bent the RD cage. PITA, as I can't fix that myself.

Four Hills Etch-A-Sketch. Up-down-up-down-up-down-up-down. Had to brake hard for a fawn in the middle of a curve on the upper Squak circle.
Two new KOM's, lowered time on two existing 2nds and one 4th

Grand Ridge/Duthie/pavement home. Little tired from yesterday's 6k+ of climbing. The trails were crowded anyway, so I took the road home to go easy on the legs. First time I have done that in ages.

Local View Hills Mate-less Motivation. My first road ride since Chelan Camp. My first road ride since Chelan Camp. Without J Pottle, Adam M, J Sorrentino, C Undem, and S Urban to motivate me, I had to go to caffeinated Clif Shot Blocks. My first day of the year with 6K of climbing.

GR/Duthie/HPoint/PPoint Off to the (Greyhound) races. I overtook another rider and his dog just before the long descent down the north side of GR. My plan was to take it easy up and over GR to Duthie. That changed when his dog started running after me. His four wheel drive kicked in, and he was right behind me through the very tight turns at the start of the drop. As the turns opened up, I pulled away, but then he shortcut a long hairpin and he was in front of me! He let me by, but then I had to hit it hard to lose him on a short steep climb. That pooped him out, and I was able to blast away. I guess this inspired me, as I rode hard all the way down the descent, and continued it over at Duthie...until I made a mistake and took my first fall in a really long time. As usual after a fall, it took me awhile to recover my Mojo and get some rhythm back.

GR/Duthie/HPoint/PPoint Zzzzz Factor. I felt surprisingly good on my 10th ride over the last 11 days. Amazing what two good nights of sleep in your own bed can do for you. Two 2nd overall

Post Chelan Camp MTB Recovery Ride...Or not. I was hoping for a little energy boost from riding MTB after four great road rides in Chelan. Mentally I was there, but I could't persuade my body to ignore nine days of riding with a lot of hard climbing in the last ten days.

Cycle U Chelan Camp Day 4 Expert Route. We had a great camp this year. Eight of us ended it in style with a double paceline on South Lakeshore, which was devoid of cars. We had our best group of riders yet in our fifth year of Chelan Camp.

GR/Duthie You're Fired! That's it. I am firing myself as my coach for not taking the advice I give other people. Four hard rides in a row leading up to Chelan Camp is not ideal. But no way was I not going to ride hard during the first summer preview of 2014, especially with the  monsoon season we have had! Three top tens

GR/Duthie/HPoint/PPoint Day Two of Don't Do What I Do. I would never advise people that I coach to do four straight hard rides leading up to the day of a hard event, tour, or race. I have zero willpower:)

GR/Duthie/HPoint/PPoint Willpower (or lack thereof) Week. With four solid days on the road bike at Cycle U Chelan Camp starting on Thursday, I should be taking it easy this week. Not a chance with this weather. I have to get as much riding in on the MTB as I can before we leave!

Green River Gorge/Enumclaw/Covington Morning After Pill. I wanted to followup yesterday afternoon's climbing ride with a solid endurance ride this morning. I changed my route after seeing how deserted Issaquah-Hobart Rd. was. I took that all the way to Ravensdale. I'm tired after 10k of climbing over the last 24 hours.

Local Climbs Thank You, Three Days of Deluge. It was great to be back riding after three days of much needed rest off of the bike. The rains made it easier to force myself not to ride. First time in four years I have climbed Somerset via 150th. Lowered three existing KOM's, new 2nd, 7th, 10th overall.

Grand Ridge/Duthie/HPoint/PPoint Bonus Discovery. I've been getting some tingling in the fingers of my right hand when climbing steep grades. I figured out a way to eliminate it by changing my grip position. Turns out that lets me climb a little faster at the same effort level. I thought the legs turned the pedals:)

GR/Duthie 2X+/HPoint/PPoint Ride Dedicated to Team HPC. The WC is the first bike I have ever owned that makes me want to ride hard whenever possible, even when I am cooked. I wore my old red Team HPC kit today. It does say "Ride Hard" on a jersey pocket...but that didn't have anything to do with it. I did slow down coming back from Duthie, as I was pretty blown by that point, this being my 4th hard day in a row.
