Redmond-Kirkland-Medina-Eastgate The sun only shines on Medina? And sometimes it only rains on Issaquah. The sun finally came out when I reached Medina, and stayed out only while I was there. As I rode by Cougar Mountain, I could see a rain shower moving north through the Issaquah Valley. I had a few minutes of light drizzle, not enough to get me dirty, and then the sun came back out along with a rainbow.

Grand Ridge RT-WT 2x Rain, wind, eroded trails, fallen trees, right place, right time. Conditions were a bit rough out there. The wind really picked up during the last part of my ride. I had to climb over downed trees a few times, including one that wasn't there the first time I went through. Right place, right time on that one. I had to ford shin-deep water where a creek had washed out the trail. It's been a week off the bike for the first time since my shoulder operation a year ago.

Squak hike Unlucky day? More likely a very lucky one. I was just about ready to leave to ride up and down my local Squak Mountain road climbs. I figured I would get out in between storm cells. I'd never be more than two miles from home, and I would bail if it got nasty. Lo and behold, lightning strikes commenced, followed by thunder less than a second later. It lasted less than 30 minutes, but we had almost another .5" of rain in the gauge. I was very happy not be 1000' up Squak Mountain! I had to abort my hike and turn around due to a rain induced bog at the flat section just before the trail junction.

Up a favorite bike climb on my feet. Gotta get some kind of exercise while the MTB trails melt out.
