Big Daddy Olallie Who is the toughest among the New Kids on the Block? IMHO, it's so close it's almost too hard to call. The full 9+ mile climb at Raging River is longer: https://www.strava.com/activities/1160204698/
But Olallie is steeper with a much, much harder finish. I'm giving the nod to Olallie as the most butch Big Daddy climb. It's fantastic to have two new areas that feature without a doubt the two longest and hardest climbs in King County, on road or dirt. I definitely felt Wednesday's hard ride at RR, but riding Olallie is so much fun I had to do it 1.5 times!

Raging River Rabbits are good for more than eating clover. I caught up to a rider about 2/3 the way up the nine mile climb. I got within 40' of him in a tight switchback. I noticed an immediate change in his body language, and he picked up the pace. He started riding a little harder than the pace I had been riding that enabled me to catch him. That was fine by me, as I let the leash out a little and then upped my effort a hair to match his new pace. I eventually picked it up just a bit more and timed it so that I caught and passed him at the exact final end of the climb. Thanks, Mr. Rabbit, for the motivation.

PP-HP Grand Ridge RT-Duthie Losing my marbles. Trail marbles, that is. Super dry weather makes for dusty trails and lots of marble-sized rocks in the turns. For some reason, that is not as much of a problem as in past years. It's not like the marbles have gone missing, but rather that I am more skillfully riding on them.

Mercer Island-SLWA-Cedar Grove Stayed with the flow. When I was at the tunnel, I toyed with the idea of detouring into DT Seattle to check out what new buildings have gone up since my last ride there. Thoughts of traffic and stop lights convinced me otherwise.
