MTB 3:44:00 [4] 38.1 mi (10.2 mph) +3912ft
ahr:114 max:150 weight:147.4lbs shoes: SW MTB 2014 Bling

GR RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle V-12 power also produces strength in numbers. I was shocked at how good I felt on my 3rd straight day of hard MTB riding. I wound up with 38m and almost 3500' of climbing, the most on the MTB so far in 2017. It was a quiet day on the trails, and I only caught 5 other riders. Estimated age and weight of the rider I caught at the very steepest part of the climb on GR back from Duthie: 25/135#. Number of water bottles filled at my late ride blackberry picking stop: 1. Number of 6# dogs who attacked me in Sycamore: 2. I feel fit, very healthy, and like I am firing on all 12 cylinders. Now if they would just bring back the V-12 to Formula 1!

MTB 2:49:00 [4] 30.0 mi (10.7 mph) +2911ft
ahr:117 max:153 weight:147lbs shoes: SW MTB 2014 Bling

GR-Duthie-Soaring Eagle It looks and feels more like an eclipse than the eclipse. Especially in the forest, where the light was flat and the only sign of the sun were occasional faint patches of soft orange. At least the patches were becoming more prevalent as I rode, so that is a good sign that the smoke is dissipating. There weren't too many people out, but I did see one hiker (but not the two dogs) wearing a mask. I wasn't surprised when I saw her get into a Volvo at the SE TH.

MTB 1:15:00 [4] 13.8 mi (11.0 mph) +1650ft
ahr:117 max:146 weight:147lbs shoes: SW MTB 2014 Bling

Grand Ridge Purple Haze but people are still walking their dogs and they are not dropping in the streets or turning into zombies. Purple haze all in my eyes. Don't know if it's day or night. Smoky air has never bothered me, at least physically. Nevertheless, as a concession I did a very short ride.

Walking 1:10:00 [1] 3.6 mi (3.1 mph) +200ft

Park Point to the blackberry, plum, apple Secret Stash with Tracy. Three pounds of BB for cereal and crumble, seven apples for crisp and applesauce, and six plums for a tasty snack. I call that a productive walk.

Cycling 2:55:00 [3] 47.8 mi (16.4 mph) +2412ft
ahr:122 max:154 weight:146.6lbs shoes: SW road 2013

Redmond-Duval-Carnation-Tolt-Duthie Hill Calendar was the (only) deciding factor. I got a late start because I couldn't for the life of me decide whether to ride road or MTB. It came down to Sunday morning being the best time to ride road, as well as the trails being more crowded on weekends. In addition, how many more 85-90 degree weeks are we going to have during this very warm summer? I ride MTB all winter long in all kinds of weather, but summer is when I really love road riding.
