ahr:122 max:149 shoes: SW MTB 2014 Bling

Grand Ridge-Duthie Busy out there. As would be expected on a sunny, albeit chilly day with near perfect trails conditions.

Hatchery-Ballot box drop-Creekside Trail: Crossing my fingers that the streak has ended. The prognosis is good that we are not going to have any rain until Sunday morning, right about when I lead my first Cascade Bicycle Club mountain bike ride. Today marks the end of 36 straight days of measurable precipitation!!!

Grand Ridge RT Rocket Ride! The bike, not the rider! The bike, not the rider! After four straight hard MTB rides, my energy level was more like a little firecracker. But the Ferrari Bike inspires me to forget about fatigue and ride harder than I would on another bike. Took a DH KOM from Tony S.

HP-Grand Ridge RT-HP Secretariat vs. Seattle Slew. After almost a month since I last rode the Tomcat, I was super excited as I rolled it out of the garage. The hardtail is fun and I love riding it, but the TC is my superstar, perfection on two wheels. It almost felt like Secretariat was stretching his legs after a layoff, as if to prove who the Big Daddy horse really is. The TC is my favorite bike of all time, but maybe the gap will narrow when I can finally order a MY19 SW Epic Hardtail, and build it up into a 18# rocket. Maybe I will call it Seattle Slew.

Grand Ridge-Duthie Cut it short. I was a little tired today, so I decided to try and save energy for tomorrow's ride.

HP-Grand Ridge RT-HP Extra Chunky is not normally a good thing, especially when associated with cycling. I replaced the solid rubber grips on the hardtail with ESI Extra Chunky silicon foam grips. What a difference! The suspension fork on a hardtail does the same job as on an FS bike, but there is a lot more shock felt throughout the whole bike, including the front end. The cushioned grips really take a lot of the sting out of the handlebar. Less shock means better trail feel and a smoother ride.
