Olallie Ridge: My endless summer MTB destination. Endless, as in summer trail conditions. I was way over-kitted with full fenders and lycra shoe covers to protect me from non-existent mud. After the rain ended (1.35") yesterday, my local backyard hiking trail was pretty wet. North Bend gets about 50% more rain than Issaquah, yet Olallie was barely damp, and you couldn't even tell it had rained high on the ridge. Even the flat JWT had drained really well. Today was possibly the last day I will ride my winter bike at O.

Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle-PP: The start of the rainy season is late, but it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. It seemed appropriate to get in one last solid ride on dry trails.

Olallie Ridge: The 2% is more important than the 98%, and I am not talking about Trump economics. I probably have 98% of the fitness I had in early September when I set my last PR on the full Olallie and Raging River climbs. But I only have 2% of the motivation required to ride PR hard! I've had a good run of hard riding in 2018. It's time for Fartlek season.

Olallie-Change Creek: After 3000 hours riding MTB, how many more firsts can be left? In retrospect, I'm surprised it took this long for the front wheel to kick up a rock big enough to really hurt when it whacked my shin. Luckily, it wasn't sharp, so the result is just a bruise. I wasn't the only one to escape the Seattle fog. The trails were busy enough that I passed 16 riders on the climb, and five of them were still going up when I came back down. The weather was simply brilliant above 500' elevation.
