Olallie Office Visit: Much better than expected. Despite three very hard climbing rides in the past five days (with today being the hardest), I felt good enough to make a really solid effort. I only saw four riders on O, and not a soul for my first two+ hours of riding. The trails are a bit more "summery," but tomorrow's showers will moisten the dirt. Today was my first trip to the "Phone Booth" this year.

Maybe I should get an E-Bike Motorbicycle so I don't even have to pedal on a rest/recovery day? Of course, I would get the same amount of exercise with an 1100cc sport bike motorcycle...Tomorrow will be my third hard climbing ride of the week, after racking up over 70,000' of climbing in July. I wanted to ride the road bike 50 miles today, but that's no way to rest. It was too nice of a day to not ride, so I went short and easy with an "opener."

Raging River-Home: There is a summer upside to soil that holds moisture the longest, and to an area where it rains the most. After a "North Bend only" pretty hard rain Sat. morning and mud at RR, today the trails were near perfect. RR and Olallie consistently have the best summer dirt, because they get the most rain, and the dirt holds onto the moisture longer than other area trails. It was windy at the TH, but higher up in the clearcut, it was dead calm within misting dense fog. That's a switch from the norm.

Walk on a bike with an "opener" Supposedly a rest day should be taken two days before a hard ride or event. The day before is ideally an easy ride with a few short harder efforts (openers). I did an opener and easy ride, but yesterday's 4000' of hard climbing at Olallie was hardly a rest day. I really wanted to do a real ride today, but held off because this is going to be a big climbing week. I just had to get out on the bike!

Olallie: Garmin says 72 hours, but the math doesn't work for me. My plan for the week includes three hard climbing rides, and possibly four. I did a shorter than normal O ride today, but it certainly qualifies. There were runners on the JWT for the weekly marathon when I headed to the O TH, and even more on my return trip.
