Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle: Solo Valentine's Day ride, but we are extending the holiday. Tracy is a fair weather cyclist, and sun and 50 degrees doesn't fit her definition. She's making smoked salmon fettuccine tonight (I earned it with 13h of riding over 4 rides during the last 6 days). Tomorrow we will walk in the rain to an early dinner out and extend Valentine's Day. In fact, maybe we will just extend it for every day in perpetuity.

Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle: Caffeine-a-go-go Special Situations Catch 22. I can't remember the last time I used caffeine, and 50mg was all I needed for a pretty good jolt. I felt good, but wanted a little insurance for a longer ride than usual this time of the year. Having the buzz would be nice on every ride, but then I would build up a tolerance. Unless I increased the dose, the buzz would decrease. On the other hand, saving the buzz for special situation rides ensures a strong response from a minimal amount of caffeine. That's not the way an addict would think, but it's the way I think!

MTB 2:50:00 [3] 25.1 mi (8.9 mph)
ahr:110 max:140 weight:3017lbs shoes: SW MTB 2012

Grand Ridge RT-Duthie: Should have ridden the summer bike, and not because it was nice and sunny. After Thursday's record flooding and more rain on Friday and Saturday, I didn't know if the trails could drain as well as they normally do after a rain. The trails were in fantastic shape, and 90% of the time the dirt was barely even damp. The recent repairs to GR creek crossings held up through the moisture onslaught.

Cycling 2:32:00 [3] 39.5 mi (15.6 mph) +2040ft
ahr:127 max:153 weight:148.8lbs shoes: SW Road 2008

Redmond-Medina-BV-EGate: The Streak is over and it ended with a Big Bang. Recap: 45 straight days of measurable precip at our house/19 straight days (12/6-12-24) leading up to a dry XMAS=64 wet days of the last 65. Now I know what it is like to live in Forks, or the Hoh Rain Forest! Record flooding in Issaquah on Thursday seems like an appropriate climax to a most incredible period of moisture. The sun felt wonderful today.
