Hiking 57:00 [2] 2.8 mi (2.9 mph) +678ft
weight:149.4lbs shoes: Hoka Clifton 7

Squak hike with Tracy: DOB vindication. The way my legs felt on an easy hike confirmed that taking a day off the bike was a good idea. I only rode four times this week, but a lot of the riding was hard.

Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle: Rain Gods smiling on me:) I could tell it had rained when I got back to downtown Issy. Tracy told me that there were showers every 30m or so while I was gone. When I left to ride, it started sprinkling on me as I turned out of the driveway, but it stopped before I reached the trailhead. I had a mix of sun and clouds, but zero rain after that. Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle: An Endo with no end in sight. Or an OTB (over the bars) with no handlebars. I watched a "rider" on a one wheeled motorized scooter (uni-scooter?) crash as he carelessly slowed to let me pass at Duthie. An endo/OTB is the worst kind of fall to take on a bike, but he wasn't on a bike and had no front end to go over. I guess I will call it a high side, like MotoGP riders when they get pitched high and to the side of the bike. These contraptions are not legal and have no business being on the trails, but at least I only see them when the trails are not busy, and they are always courteous when letting me pass. Judging by the excellent tuck and roll, this guy must get a lot of practice tumbling off of his uni-scooter.

Park Pointe-Preston- OT Issy: Risky weather business. I gambled by doing a short and easy gravel ride today and waiting until tomorrow to do a longer trail ride. The trails will dry out overnight and hopefully I finish up before the next round of showers tomorrow afternoon.

Redmond-Avondale-Carnation-Klahanie: Youth versus wisdom. Over the years, I have learned that I would prefer to be a little warm for a short time, rather than chilly for a long time. At the very last minute before I headed out, I changed into a warmer kit, not something I would have done when I was 21. Of course, I saw several people in my demographic group wearing a summer jersey and shorts. I was comfortable for my whole 3h non-stop ride, and I bet that they were not.
