Walking 50:00 [1] 2.8 mi (3.4 mph) +550ft
rhr:39 weight:148.8lbs (rest day) shoes: Hoka Clifton 7

Squak Mountain spring break with Tracy. The rain squalls broke and the sun came out, but I resisted the urge to jump on a bike. I'm a little burned out from lots of hard riding. Usually I need a burn out break in the summer, but it hit me in spring this year. Today makes three DOB's in a row, and three walks in a row.

Mercer Island CCW-Medina-Redmond: Armani or Zegna? I built and spec'd my MY14 SW Tarmac SL4 to fit me like an Ermenegildo Zegna suit. I read that one is supposed to lose flexibility as one gets older, but I've not made a single change to the fit, and the bike feels as comfortable as it did on day one. Come to think of it, I've made no changes to my custom steel bike I had built in 2008, and it still fits me like an Armani glove. We took measurements from the Tarmac I had at the time to design this bike, but made a few little tweaks, mostly so it would be "different." cE8+ RE7-8 Felt better than yesterday, especially enthusiasm. Sunday and today is the most fun I've had on the road bike in years.

Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle: Like Rory Mcilroy shooting a 75. I had an off day and didn't ride well, nor was I as enthusiastic as I usually am about riding. Oh well, even Rory has the odd bad day.

Maple Valley-Black Diamond-Covington: Coulda used the extra vim and vigor 400+ times. Today was the first time in over 200,000 miles of cycling that I used Go-juice (50mg of caffeine) before starting a road ride. What a difference it would have made on the 400+ Hills of the West Coast rides that I led! If I would have known what caffeine does for focus and mental acuity, I would have also used it before heading out to carve Colorado canyons on my 1100cc sport bike. cE9 RE7-8 lots of Z3+SS climbing
