Note
(injured)

The good news is that my back is better. But I thought I better take it
easy for a couple more days. I am however, boycotting house work (aka
Domestic Maintenance Sanctions) until further notice. :P

Hike/Walk 1 [0]
(injured)

I woke up this morning and felt OK. I was quite happy that my back ache from yesterday was no more. I drove TheMinister's wife to the Go station and did my usual morning routine. This morning it was laundry. Well, I reach down to pick up a sock from the laundry basket and I pulled something in my back. Ouch!

So... I am officially on the injury list!

Housework sucks!

Note

1100 hrs, Celebrix 200 mg

New telephone books were delivered to our door today. Looking at them, I had a childhood flashback.

We were first generation new Canadians and were very poor when we landed in Canada. One of my favorite sayings is that: we use to go to wedding to just get the rice. :)

When we were kids, we used telephone books as booster chairs. We even fight for the thickest telephone book because if you don't sit high enough on the chair, you just couldn't get to the food fast enough. By the end of the year, the telephone books look worst than if a pack of dogs have gone through them. One of our favorite times was when they delivered new phone books. 'We can exchange our old ones for new ones'. It was like Christmas at the Wongs' house.

Using phone books as booster chairs have their liabilities. Occasionally, one of us would fall off the chair. But the only thing that the rest of us would do were to laugh like crazy.

One day back then, I remembered walking along our street and noticed that a couple has thrown out some perfectly good looking telephone books. At the time, and as a kid, I could not understand: what type of people can keep telephone books looking so new and then throw them out?

My kids never had to use telephone books as booster chairs. I guess that's progress. But I still laughed like crazy when they fell off it.

I went back to Hilton Falls this morning. The snow has pretty much turned to ice. It was very difficult to Skate-Ski as it was difficult to get a grip and I was always struggling to maintain balance. I guess the good news is that it's a good way to train being off balance. Though it was a tiring ski. It made me appreciate how much effort has to be used to fight the balance factor.

I was pretty tired after the skiing, but decided to check out the Hip Hop Aerobic class anyway. I'm not sure whether it was the 'barrel jump', or just too much physical activity in the past couple of days, but my back is killing me. Hopefully a good night sleep would help.

Snow sports 3:00:00 [2]

Spent almost 3 hours at Hilton Falls skate-skiing today. Well, I didn't actually ski for the entire 3 hours. I met a friend whom I have not seen for almost 10 years. He was skiing with a group of beginners and we spent a bit of time skiing and chatting.

It was a beautiful day and the snow was fantastic. I thought it would've been chopped up by the hikers, but it was in pretty good shape. I did have some equipment problems. My hat kept riding up, exposing my ears, which caused my headphone to fall off - must be that side to side offset motion, and my Forerunner kept beeping on distance and time alerts. I don't remember setting such alerts. So... back to the manual and time to break out some new gear: hat and 'over the ear' head phones. :)

Sometimes it's good to ski by oneself. Good to have some solitude time to think about life, happiness and the pursue of wonderful snow. I remember thinking about all the neat things that I can write about. But bad news is that at my age, I can't remember what I thought about in that solitude time. Hiyah! :p
