Orienteering race (Night-o) 1:18:58 [3] *** 7.8 km (10:07 / km)
spiked:14/17c
Aaaghhh! Season finished and not a singe good race to count for...

Finnish night-o started ok, but I tripped on something and fell hard on a big stone just before 6th. Lost my breath and hurt my hand and knee. I had to go easy for a while but ended up losing concentration and map-contact for a while. Stupid error on 6th and I thought of quitting.Stumbled forward, still unfocused and unsure of the damage, and lost track of all the paths and roads. Halfway to 7th I could almost run again. All in all I walked (or ran more slowly than usual) for about 1 km and I lost about 10 min during this, of which at least half due to poor navigation. Rest went ok with two small mistakes.

Eneded up 42 out of 58 and not counting 6th and 7th I would have been about 25th, which would have been acceptable. I'm just not better than that.

Course was very traditional night-o, with a lot of path-running. It will be much better in two years when I'm event director!

Orienteering 1:10:00 [1] *** 4.4 km (15:55 / km)
spiked:10/11c
Guiding an old (in the meaning of longtime) friend around his first o-course in 20 years. Ended up taking the safe routes useing a lot of paths. Tricky route for a beginner though. Easy running and safe route choises yes but tricky posts and seldom any clear attackpoints.

Ended up twisting my ankle, as I wasn't concentrated when runnig on the stony paths. These thing happen when you take it too easy...

Thursday Sep 6

Orienteering (night-o) 1:12:00 [3] *** 6.6 km (10:55 / km)
spiked:11/13c
Club champs in night-o, and I lost it. Actually I was quite far off, which really is no surprise with my current form. I'm just not moving fast enough. Orienteering was ok, except that I lost track of the small paths, which again is no surprise at night. But it was great fun and we'll have the Finnish champs one week away. I might need some more night training.

Monday Sep 3

Note
A new job and a shift in commuting from car to train. This hopefully has a positive effect for my knee.
