heart rate goes up by at least 5 bpm when I run past a pretty girl. something similar probably happens when I run past a growling dog. the difference is that in the latter case I am too busy paying attention to the dog to be paying attention to my heart. a cat, triumphantly carrying something small and dead in his or her teeth, crossed the road.

Note

We had 4 participants at the first ever training meet of the Atomic Orienteering Club, based at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Farzan, Jamie and Jakkarin did the short course (2.0 km, 8 controls) and Melissa did the long course (4.6 km, 13 controls). Everyone had a good time. Everyone found all the controls. No one was miserable when he or she was lost. I am happy.
