FAR Race.

Adventure Racing race 13:35:00 [4]

As Audrey said we had a really good first 8 hours of the race, it's just the later part where we fell apart. Started with a paddle and we were surprised to be one of the top 10 boards off of the water. This is a really good paddle for MBR. On to the trek and we nailed this even beating the flag to the location for CP 4. Came out of the trek just behind 2 solo males and the first team. The bike was a tough bike to nav, we made a few mistakes taking the wrong trail and having to back track, but I think all teams found themselves doing this at some point or another. Audrey got a flat on this leg as well, which cost us a bit of time, but still we worked well together. Once we were out of main road Tom did a lot of towing as Audrey was finding her legs just were missing some of their pop. And then we got to the Advanced section. We were just behind Running Free and ahead of everyone else. I was feeling really tired and just never felt comfortable on the map. Ended up taking us something like 3-4 hours on a leg that shouldn't have taken half that. We came out of the woods after finding the 3 CPs and there were no more bikes left. Some teams didn't get all 3, but the top 3 co-ed teams did so out shot at the podium was lost. Oh well, we all these races from time to time. Still a really good course and a gooed day out in the woods.

Cycling warm up/down 30:00 [3]

Pre-riding of the course.

Cycling race 42:14 [5]

Valley Park Cyclo Cross Race. Was a bit worried after the start when I realized I was at the back of the pack, but as I felt more comfortable I was able to pick up the pace and start to pick off riders one by one. Went down once and dropped my chain on the 3rd lap which cost me some time, but felt strong right till the end.

Running 1:35:00 [3]

Tried to follow the Grand River trail north this time to change things up a bit, but around Bridgeport there's a lot of construction and the trail is blocked for a bit so I was never able to find it again. Realized I was on the wrong side of the river after a while so ended up doing a loop on roads, which meant I could only handle so much pavement before coming home.

Cycling (Cyclo Cross Training) 1:00:00 [2]

With the first race of my season on Sunday I decided it was a good idea to get out on the bike and ride for a bit. Spent the time in the park near my house working doing a few laps around the area. I'm going to need to hook up some lights next time because it's way to dark until after 7.

Running 26:00 [2]

Ran into work and home.

Running intervals 20:00 [5]

Pyramid intervals 1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1. 1 min rest in between each. Brought me back to a time long ago when I used to run these with Bender. Ahh good times. It's too bad he went and retired in Vancouver. So much potential in that yound lad.

Running long 1:55:00 [3]

Ran along the Grand River until the trail comes out to the road past Highway 7 and back. Legs were definitely a bit tired after a week of back packing, felt it on the hills on the second half of the run.

Note

Spent the past week back packing along the coastal trail in Lake Superior Park. Some of the views were just amazing with sun every day of the trip. Spent 2 nights camped out on sandy beaches and only ran into people one night of the whole trip (Kristen and I like our solitude when we're back packing). Overall a great trip with lots of great hiking.

Running intervals 20:00 [5]

Legs were feeling very sore today on the hills. I figure that is from the hard bike ride yesterday.

5 x 4 min with 2 min recovery.

Running 40:00 [3]

Cycling (MTB) 2:00:00 [3]

Road out to the Hydro Cut and did a lap before riding home. The trail riding was probably closer to a 4 as I really pushed the whole way around. Road ride is a 3.
