Running long 2:30:00 [3]

Long run faile.

Was up near Crawford lake with plans to run for 4 hours. I was feeling pretty good, but around the 2 hour mark I just hit a wall. I'd been eating pretty well, but with the heat and tired legs from yesterday's workout I had nothing in the tank. I was stumbling on the rocky sections (of which there are many) so decided to just head back to the car and call it a day.

Running 1:52:00 [3]

Run down to Kolb park and back. Deer flies were out this morning and my back looked a little like it had been run through the grater.

Cycling race 1:02:34 [4]

Second night lap. Backed off the intensity a bit because I was only going to get a 1 rider break after this and then have to do another.
6 AM

Cycling race 1:01:44 [4]

The sun was up for this lap so the flow in the single track was better. Lap #5 so I was starting to feel a bit tired by now.
10 AM

Cycling race 57:49 [4]

Really pushed on my last lap. We were trying to get as much time to our last rider as possible so he could finish his last lap. Was happy to put in a sub 1-hour lap for lap #6.

Cycling 53:56 [4]

Went out a bit too hard on my first lap considering I have done minimal biking/mountain biking this year. Was a little cooked at the end.
7 PM

Cycling race 54:24 [4]

Second lap I eased into the lap a bit more and felt a lot better at the end. Time was only slightly slower which means on the first lap I must a have slowed a lot on the back half.
11 PM

Cycling race 58:57 [4]

First night lap went pretty well.

Adventure Racing 5:58:00 [3]

Had a great time doing ESAR this year with Audrey and Tom. There were 3 other teams with us that we went back and forth with the whole race. The race was a bit longer this year it seemed than previous years, but just more good training for all of us.

Audrey hadn't been on a bike for about a year so she was a rock star with all the road riding they had thrown in this year. Some sweet single track near the end in Brant Tract helped me recover for the last run/paddle to the finish.

Overall a great race and we all had a great time. Felt good to be back doing AR again.

Note

If anyone is thinking about doing the North Face Endurance Challenge in Blue Mountain this year I came across a wagjag for 40% off the race.

Running 12:00 [3]

A very short run before I met some co-workers for TRX. Figured this would just flush out my legs a bit.

Running 1:13:27 [3]

Down the Bingeman's, back along the trail to Lancaster Rd. and then home via Breightupt park.

Other (Ball Hockey) 1:30:00 [3]

Noticed tonight that I'm able to go all out a bit more than I have been since the start of the year. I guess that means the knee is healing.

Mom with a cold + Dad with a cold + Daughter with Cold + Daughter with infection = Training goes to Sh!t.

Tried to find some time to run up Chicopee a few times tonight at ARK to at least push the lungs a bit, but they struggled with the congestion in my chest.

Running 1:22:00 [3]

Ran up to Bechtel and did all the hills in the park. Tried the trail on the back side of the creek as well and got pretty wet crossing the creek. A good Friday morning run although my legs were pretty tired on the home stretch.
12 PM

Strength (TRX) 33:00 [1]

TRX workout and then a short spin afterwards to flush out my legs.

Running 45:00 [3]

This was supposed to be an interval workout, but I've not been feeling well as I think my and the monkey have the same cold coming on. So instead I opted for just a straight up run. Did all the fun side trails down the Bingeman's and the main trail back to work.

Still felt pretty tired from the late night on Sunday night. So rather then getting up early for a longer run I opted to sleep in till 6 am and go for a run in Breithupt park.

Running hills 15:00 [4]

So tonight the ARK Attack got a taste of some of my workouts for their final tough night. First up was some Simon Whitfield intervals (3 min on and 1 min recovery). I think the toughest part for them during this was to learn how to really push themselves all out for the full 3 min. Luckily I was able to find a loop on the back end of Chicopee that was a gravel road followed by single track back so I think this made it a bit easier for them as they just had to run the loop, rather then run to a time.

Next up was reverse hill intervals. For these you start at the top of the hill and run down, touch the flag and then run up. I had hoped to have them do 5 each, but time ran out so they all did 3 each.

We did a 15 min warm up before all of this.

When we started the night I told them it was going to be really tough, but the hard running was only going to be 25 min of the whole night the rest of the time would be recovery and rest. I asked them to run hard during the hard parts and then enjoy the recovery. I was really happy to see that not one kid walked any of the hills even though some of them were pretty tired by the end. Patrick thought they were so hard tonight he is going to reward them next week with Capture the Flag. :)

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Warm up and some other running around.
