Orienteering race 1:04:00 [5]
Thomass UKR. Not a lot of nav required for this one, more just a trail run. Still with all the snow it was a good slog. Great weather, had a great time out there.
Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]
Stretching 20:00 [1]

Saturday Jan 27

Running 4:00:00 [3]
Out with Phatty, Leanimal and SR for a some trail running and nav practice. Not exactly sure of the time, but I think the run and training session were roughly 4 hours.

Friday Jan 26

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]
Light spin on the trainer, decided I didn't feel like going outside in the cold for an early morning run.

Note
Just saw an announcement for MIX on the web. Apparently I have now signed up to be a member of one of the great teams in NA. Definitely getting pumped and it's still 5 months away.

Registered teams include racers from 27 different states and two Canadian provinces. With only seven teams from the host state of Michigan, the event certainly has shown a national appeal and is widely considered as the biggest adventure race in the United States for 2007. The event has drawn some top notch competition including past Michigan C2C winners SOLE and Absolute Endo. Challenging these past podium winners will be great teams from all over North America including: Eastern Mountain Sports, Silly Rabbits, Enduraventure, WEDALI, NMET, TravelCountry.com, Checkpoint Zero, and Salomon/Sunnto just to name a few.

Thursday Jan 25

Weights 1:00:00 [2]
Starting to add back some leg exercises.
Cycling 1:10:00 [3]
On the trainer while watching CSI. Includes 3 sets of 30s sprints (10 per set).

Wednesday Jan 24

Cycling warm up/down 20:00 [2]
On the trainer.

Tuesday Jan 23

Weights 1:00:00 [2]
Running 1:00:00 [3]
Out for a run after work.

Monday Jan 22

Cycling 1:10:00 [3]
On the trainer this morning. Felt pretty sore during the warm-up, but then my legs loosened up. Includes 3 sets of 10 sprints.
Cycling hills 20:00 [4]
Simulated hills on the trainer.

Sunday Jan 21

Stretching 20:00 [1]
After all the activity this weekend, figured I need to spend some time stretching.
Orienteering 1:30:00 [1]
Pixie and I headed out on the THI map to play in the snow. I made us wear snowshoes so we got a bit of a workout while we walked around in the woods. Pixie navigated almost all of them and did pretty well. I had her trying to navigate from point to point without stopping to take a bearing.

Saturday Jan 20

Note
FAR Winter Race
Adventure Racing race 6:00:00 [4]
FAR Winter Race. We did really well on the bike/trek considering one teammate was suffering with bad stomach pain. Could have found the first advanced ski checkpoint much cleaner, but otherwise no major problems. This race definitely favored the strong skiers which was a nice change from previous races, 4th place overall.

Thursday Jan 18

Weights 30:00 [2]
The closest thing I can think to use for paddle training is the hand bike at the gym right now. Now that I've been lifting weights for a bit I'm going to back off a bit for one day a week and spend more time on the bike.
Weights 30:00 [1]
Rest of the workout.

Wednesday Jan 17

Running 1:00:00 [3]
Out for a nice run in the cold weather this morning. Legs felt really sluggish. I've moved onto Base2 period, so this run included 10 sprints (well really just a pickup of the pace for 100/200 m) during the run.
Note
Was going to ride tonight, but EJ called during the day and said he had tickets to the Raptors, row 16. Seeing as I've never sat outside the Sprite zone I couldn't say no.

Tuesday Jan 16

Cycling 1:10:00 [3]
On the trainer, yesterday's workout moved to today becuase of the weather. Includes 3 set of 10 sprints.
Cycling 20:00 [4]
Hill climbs 4 hills for 3 minutes each. 2 min recovery.

Monday Jan 15

Weights 1:00:00 [1]
With the weather outside I headed to work early, so skipped the trainer ride and went to the gym instead.

Monday Jan 8

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]
Light ride on the trainer. Light week this week.

Sunday Jan 7

Running 1:00:00 [3]
Out for a longer run (well not that longer really) today. Hip still felt pretty good, just tight when I got home.
Stretching 30:00 [1]
Pixie got a DVD called Power Yoga for Flexibility. I'm going to try and do it once a week. This was my first feeble attempt at it.

Saturday Jan 6

Cycling 3:00:00 [3]
EJ is sick again so I had to riding by myself. Road out the Ashbridges Bay and back. Turned around half way and went back out again so that the ride was longer.

Thursday Jan 4

Wednesday Jan 3

Cycling 1:35:00 [3]
On the trainer 30s on/off 10 reps 4 times. Finished up the first season of 24 today. Didn't see the wife's death coming at all.

Light spin on the trainer watching old episodes of Mash.

Tuesday Jan 2

Weights 1:00:00 [2]
Upper Body.
Running 30:00 [2]
Legs are starting to feel better I'd put this one at a 1.5 pain level. I'd be interested to see how much longer I can start going. Will have to wait until the end of the week when I talk with Bill again.
Stretching 20:00 [1]

Monday Jan 1

Cycling 1:30:00 [3]
