Out with Dr. E and Bash for a great ski around their area. We only crossed the road 4 times, rest of the time everything was skiable.

So I'm looking to head out for a training session on Saturday and thought I'd put out the word in case someone else is interested in joining. I'm looking to head out for 4 hours either snowshoeing or skiing. Anyone interested? I'm open to suggestions for what you want to do.

Went to Bechtel Park in Waterloo. At first I thought I could run my intervals in the field, but the snow was more then knee deep, so I decided to use the road way instead.

Resting heart rate: 52 bpm
Heart rate after the 15 min run: 80 bpm.

Apparently I am considered above average. :)

Note

After frying the board I was working and setting myself back 2 weeks at work I decided to just go home and pour a stiff drink, rather then doing my workout. Deep breaths.....

Orienteering race 35:00 [5]

First part of the Stars Adventure Race. Led into 1 and then had to break trail the whole way up to the top of the escarpment and around the controls at the top. With some highly strategic route planning I was able to lead Bent off course causing him some time delays.

Basically I knew he had to go back to 2 because he had the SI, while I didn't (Eddie was getting that for us). So rather then heading directly in the direction I needed I split the difference between Bent's route and mine hoping Bent would follow me, it helped that there was a bit of a trail for us to follow. Then at a certain point I took a sharp left back to my control and Bent was on his own to go get 2. This worked a bit because Bash and Bent ran into each other and at that point Bash knew he was off course.

XC Ski race 1:20:00 [4]

We needed all the help we could get in the snowshoe because Bash and Bent were much better skiers then Eddie and I and we knew they were slowly tracking us down. At the end it came down to a race line to the finish luckily with us punching before them.

Good fun out there, I would just like to see it a bit longer.

I think has to be my best Thomass race ever. Let's see... I beat Nick (which has never happened, ever), I was only just behind Tyson, in fact I passed himinto 10, and at one point I was leading when Bob decided to share the snow breaking. A great course and soooooo much fun on the snowshoes.

Tyson and I then headed out to Palgrave for some more snowshoing with one of the old Thomass maps. A great day to be outside.

My back seems to be feeling better, but I'm still leary to try lifting weights in case I make it worse. Used the arm-bike for 30 min instead today.
