Simpy sent me this video today after we talked about it this weekend.

Such good memories for me.

Killarney Loop.

Kristen has brought up a few times that she would like to hike the full loop in a single go. With her 40th coming up in a few weeks she started talking about doing this as a birthday event again. We knew we needed someone else to join us to provide some lively conversation. They needed to be strong to help push Kristen (her words not mine), but also the right mindset to enjoy going at her pace. We recruited Simpy and he was excited to join us.

With major Thunderstorm and Tornado warnings in the forecast for Friday night we decided to delay the drive up so headed out at 3 on Saturday morning so we could start hiking early Saturday morning.

The hike itself went well with no major issues. I was surprised how many people we passed on the trail and also how busy the campsite was. Temps were 4 on Saturday and it probably went down to -2 in the evening.

The big challenge for us was the amount of water on the course. On Friday the area had 50-70mm of rainfall. All the rivers were really flowing and we a harder time finding the trail when it was under water sometimes versus the usual challenge of finding the trail up on the mountains. This included a bridge crossing that was more than a foot under water.

I think everyone had a good time and enjoyed ourselves. We ran into a group of three that was hiking out out to a campsite at about the 50 km part, camping and then doing the rest on Sunday. I think next time that's what we'd like to do so then you can see the whole trail in the daylight. Something to plan for next year.

Testing a few things for this weekend.

1. I wore a pack with 10 lbs just to make sure I had no issues with my back/hip. - pass
2. I wore similar cloths to see how I was for the temperature since we're really hiking and not running. - I have to think if I need another layer on the top or not.

A vey light ride to see if this would loosen up my back/hip.

Stretching 30:00 [1]

Followed by a long stretching session.

Running 1:00:00 [2]

Was allowed to run for 1 min with 1 min recovery 10 times. My back/hip were sore from physio the night before, so I probably shouldn't have done this yet, but I was just excited to run at all. I don't think this made it any worse.

Hiking/Walking hills 1:35:00 [2]

Went out to Chicopee and did hill repeats. No running still, but this raised the heart rate a bit.

On the trainer because K-Way was out running. The movie I was watching ended with 10 min to go of which 5 was meant to be a cool down. I didn't want to drop the heart rate by getting of the trainer to put something else on the tablet, so spent the last 10 min watching credits and then a screen recommending the next movie.

That might have been tougher than the ride.

Hiking/Walking 1:00:00 [2]

I'm supposed to limit how much I run right now while we try to figure out some issues with my back/hips. K-way was out running this morning. So walked on the treadmill with an incline and weights.
