Woke up feeling pretty aweful (think I'm getting sick). I've also been dealing with tightness on my left ankle (just on the inside achilles?) So decided to skip my planned long run and sleep some more. Then Aubrey and I went climbing for the morning. We've progressed enough that we decided to buy a chalk bag because our hands are getting sweaty when we climb. Aubrey picked the "huggy" monster bag.

Kristen was in Toronto last night for dinner so I knew she wouldn't be up early to workout/go to work. So took advantage of this to get out for a run in the park. Didn't feel super motivated when I first went out, but at around the 30 min mark something clicked and I really started to feel strong and had good flow.

Ran Aubrey to school since it was pouring rain outside, and then on to work.

Looking for a team for Raid the Rib if anyone is interested. My plans to put teams together from ARX has not gone as planned. There is an ARX team, but I didn't make the team and the rest of the kids either aren't interested or not willing to commit because it's Easter weekend.

So now I'm looking to run the Full Raid if possible.

Note

Fun night out at ARX.

The kids were doing an endurance workout where they had to memorize something on a map and then copy it over to a blank map as they ran loops. Normally we'd run up/down a hill, but with the wind out at the park I wanted to find something in the woods.

Inspired by the Barkley Marathons I created a route that had them running cross country, then up a steep climb on a trail and then down/up another small hill off trail. From there they looked at the map board and came straight back down a hill covered in fallen trees all off trail.

For the kids that are new to ARX it was pretty hard, but most of them seemed to adjust after they're first few loops and got into it. For the experienced kids they were coming back pretty out of breadth and were working hard on the down hill to find lines through the fallen trees.

At the end of the night I announced to Patrick that this was our best route ever. Went home and cracked more than one beer while I watched the Barkley documentary again.

Out with my tired friend again. He was happy to get out for his first run of the year. I on the other hand wasn't as excited to see him again.
