Running (Jig jog) 40:00 [2]
shoes: Asics GT 2160 (Jan 11)

Run with Celeste along the canal to Carleton and back. Feeling pretty sleepy and slow. I think I'm coming down with something. Serves me right to not sleep on the plane. There were too many good movies to watch!

Pool-deck chair-fridge and repeat.
Over 30 degrees even in the mountains.

Orienteering race (WOC O Festival) 25:56 [4] 2.3 km (11:17 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Much better. Mostly trail running today...if you could find the correct trail.
Dad won the family competition again, by 1 minute 6 seconds. I thought I had him... Mom had a good birthday run but got mixed up on the first control. Was a good race.

Orienteering race (O Festival medium loisir ) 1:11:00 [4] 2.3 km (30:52 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Nothing like getting completely lost in the middle of the woods in a foreign country.
Most difficult terrain I've competed in. Course was simple enough but once I went off my bearing it was nearly impossible to relocate again.
Didn't twist an ankle or fall into a mini crevasse so I suppose I did well enough.

Orienteering (Wednesday night fun) 1:00:00 [3] 5.87 km (10:13 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Super fun orienteering course set up by Francis on his new park map. Part 1: Find and collect 2 playing cards and 2 strands of flagging ribbon. The cards will make up 2/5 of your poker hand.
This should have been fairly straightforward, however, I got unlucky with my route choice and spent 10 minutes looking for my second ribbon. Grrr.
Part 2: Hide 4 playing cards, along with a strand of ribbon at pre-determined areas. I hid my cards well and was lucky to not have had to run very far in order to hide them.
Part 3: Find 3 more cards and ribbon strands set out by other players. This was a little trickier. I had been running for half an hour and only had 15 minutes left. After finding 2 cards and 3 ribbons, (dropping and nearly losing them all, running through stinging nettle and illegally crossing the transitway 4 times- oops) I made it back and got a freebie card from Steve to complete my hand. Needless to say I didn't win at Poker.
This session was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it! Thanks Francis!
