Orienteering race (Summer solstice #4) 1:01:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon XA Pro GTex (Aug 10)

Race 4 of the summer solstice series. Not a horrible race but could have done better. Have been working more on reading contours.
First 4 controls went really well. Next one was missing so I decided to move on to the next control but ended up finding the original one anyways. Thought I planned my route fairly well. Last control I missed completely by cutting into the woods WAY early. Had to fight my way through some green and practically fell out of it on the other side, onto a soccer field, with some pretty confused people staring at me. Oops.
Running felt ok tonight. Excited to get my new Inov8's in the mail. Figure it out Canada Post!

Dragonboating race (Ottawa D-boat race wknd) 5:00 [3] 0.9 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Barefoot :)

Still waiting for the results to be posted. I believe we ended up in 6th place out of 38 in the Women's Sport category. About 80th out of a total 195 boats.
Today went well. Had 2 200m races and 1 500. Our neighbour boats stuck to their lanes today, thankfully!
Will post results when I find them.
Overall was a great weekend and I would do it again next year. Lots of energy and good competitive spirit. I think I needed that...I'm by far the least competitive of my family...

Dragonboating race (Ottawa D-boat race wknd) 8:00 [3] 1.5 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Barefoot :)

First race was at 7:50 this morning. Felt good and nervous to start. Plan was to race 2 500m races today and try to qualify for women's A final for Sunday.
First race 2:32.16 placing 3rd in our heat. We felt the pace was a bit fast and I think we were quite sloppy on the start.
Waited around for a few hours for the second race at 2pm. Started off excellent. About 200m into the race the boat from the lane to the left of ours hit our boat. I saw it coming at us and I thought they were going to flip us. For a split second I was disappointed I hadn't decided to wear my bathing suit underneath. Ha-ha! Both boats stayed upright. I tried to push off of them and keep paddling but it was impossible. We were able to steer away from them but they hit us again. Again I tried to push off. They were yelling at us to get out of their lane and we were yelling back. We separated again and finished off the race in roughly 2:43. We protested the race and got a make-up race.
They fit us into a race 20 minutes later. Didn't have much time to rest. There was a strong head wind by this point in the afternoon. We had a great race with a time of 2:41.
Finished off the day in the beer tent. :)
